Any insight on a nice, safe area of Memphis to stay for a weekend? Looking to be near Beale St/FedEx Forum area.

Thanks, only available rooms are $450+ a night, hoping for something a little less.

This doesn’t exist but East Memphis/Germantown is probably the closest to it and about a 25 minute drive to Beale. Most of downtown is highly sketchy

Hyatt Centric is. Central Station is also nice. Even with close proximity to Beale, I would suggest using Uber rather than walking.

The area the Peabody is in.

The Peabody, Hyatt Centric, Arrive, Central Station are all downtown and nice.
The Memphian in midtown is nice.

We recently stayed downtown Memphis and it was perfectly fine and a nice trip. I am sure some areas of the city are not so nice, but it was not as bad as I anticipated. I have been in areas of chicago and detroit that would make your a**hole pucker for comparison.

The Main street area near the Lorraine, the arcade , etc is a 30 second walk from all that. Safe, not crowded and walkable to the river and a number of attractions and restaurants like Gus’s.. Look into an Air bnb right there.

Another vote for Hyatt Centric or next door at the Caption by Hyatt, about as safe as you'll get in the City limits with a high Police presents.

I will be at the Arrive hotel tonight in downtown. I chose that one because it is highly rated on TripAdvisor and less than half of the cost of the Peabody. I will let you know if not good

This is where I would stay. Close enough to downtown, there is a ton of stuff to do in Midtown, and you could still get to anything in East Memphis if you want to go eat or shop anywhere there

In the Pyramid in Bass Pro.

Been a couple years, but have stayed at The Westin a couple times. Right across the street from the Forum and a block south of Beale. Had no issues.

Stayed downtown at the Hyatt Centric last weekend. Walked pretty much everywhere with no issues. Stopped in at Arrive for coffee at Hustle and Dough which was good.
If you’re in the mood for it, it’s a short walk to a hole in the wall pizza joint named Little Italy Downtown. Order a Grandmothers Pizza. You won’t regret it.

Arrive was very nice and comfortable last night. I could see the FedEx forum from our room and it was close enough to walk. The Beale Street sign was also visible from our room but a little farther. It is very safe there. Get a corner room if available. I drank coffee and ate breakfast there this morning and it was really good. The pizza people were eating there last night at the bar looked really good too. I highly recommend if price is important to you. If not the Peabody and Hyatt Centric are a little closer to the two areas you mentioned. I will stay at Arrive over the Peabody now for sure though. I can UBER if I need to.

I second this. You can see the arena from your room. I've stayed there a few times for LSU vs Ole miss games before heading to oxford.

We stayed in the Pyramid a couple years ago and enjoyed it. They run a free shuttle from the hotel to
Beale St.
The hotel is nice if you are into the outdoors and a rustic atmosphere.
We did the normal tourist stuff like Graceland, Beale Street, and hit some of the Bbq places.
