Going during Spring Break, will be on Big Island March 11-19th. Any restaurant recommendations you can suggest? Will also be celebrating our anniversary and wife's 50th!

Huggo’s and On the rocks in Kona are right on the water and offer great views. Black rock pizza make a good pizza.
Cafe Pesto if you venture to Hilo. There is also a food truck/portable building, Le yellow sub, that makes the best spring rolls I’ve ever had. Don’t pass up food trucks, they have some of the best food on the island and on Friday nights they gather in the Target parking lot for a few hours. Get there early before they sell out. Da Poke shack in Kona is another place. If you aren’t staying in a hotel room, go to Costco or a grocery store and get some food to pack for snacks and lunches. The most of best beaches require a little hike. I’ll be there in 11 days. If I run across a restaurant, I’ll post about it

Lava Lava Beach club is a great casual spot right on the beach; good place to watch the sunset. Go early as they don't take reservations.

For a top notch fine dining experience, go to ULU at Four Seasons Hualalai.

An amazing place, best on the Big Island in my opinion! Everything was delicious!. I would suggest making a reservation as early as possible when they first open and get seated outside. This puts you front view of an amazing sunset. This place is pricey but definitely worth it.

I like Pineapples in Hilo. For Kona side, I like both Roy’s in Waikoloa Beach and Merriman’s in Waimea for upscale dining. Lava Lava Beach Club at sunset is worth doing once. It can get busy, so get there early as mentioned above. I like both of the Huli Huli chicken stands. Randy’s is down in Captain Cook near Greenwell Farms and is open a couple of days mid to late week. They post their hours on Facebook. The other stand is at the parking lot of the Waimea liquor store on Saturdays.

Don’t know why I said the poke shack was the best poke. It’s good but Umekes is the best. I got them confused.

Just left Lava Lava. Don’t really know about the food but it’s a cool little place with lots of local drafts on tap. Owned by the same group that owns Huggo’s and On the rocks. Watched KC win. Spent most of the day at Mauna Kea beach, highly recommend getting up early and spending the day there. May be my favorite beach on the island other than Maks

I’m in Waikoloa Beach. Lava lava is great. You went at a great time. The last few years you could quickly get a table between 4pm and 5pm. That has changed, but their 45 minute wait for tables is more like a 20 minute wait from my experience two nights ago.

Waimea is a cool town. We really loved the Hawaiian Style Cafe there. The breakfast is amazing. A local turned us on to it. There is usually a wait, but it was so worth it.

Didn’t eat in Waimea but went to the one in Hilo yesterday morning after seeing Kilauea at her finest, before heading to the Mauna Kea summit. Was really good. They doesn’t open until 8, website says 7 but it’s 8. Got there about 7:25 and it wasn’t long before there was a huge line waiting to get in. The portions are absolutely huge and cheap for Hawaii. I got the chicken cutlet loco moco. Couldn’t come close to finishing it. Wife, sorry no pics, got the corned beef and hash. I’d say we probably had enough food to feed 3 grown people and possibly have some leftover.

Another one to add: Kuleana Rum Shack. It’s at the Queens Marketplace at Waikoloa Beach. I went there for lunch today and it was great. It’s a tasting room and restaurant.

Thanks for all the recommendations! Keep them coming. Can’t wait to go. Hoping Volcano will still be erupting.
