Boomtown - Bossier City -Clean? Safe?

I've got to make a trip to Shreveport after the first of the year and found a really cheap hotel deal @ Boomtown in Bossier City. I don't plan on using the casino. Just need a clean place as a base for running all over northwest Louisiana for a few days.
Advice/Suggestions?

Personally, I prefer Margaritaville, but it's my own damn fault.

Warning: I-20 from downtown Shreveport to around the Industrial Drive exit in Bossier is under major renovation on both sides. You will want to avoid it and use surface streets most times. Allow plenty of extra time to reach your destination.
We went through it last Saturday morning headed to Ruston, and it was moving slowly but steadily even with crews working. On the return that evening, we came to a stop before Industrial. Crept to the exit, took it, and hauled arse after that.
