Boston Family Trip - Where to Stay

Planning a trip to Boston in July with the family and trying to figure out the best part of the city to stay in. Planning to go to a RedSox game, freedom trail, etc. A Hilton property would great for points, but open to VRBO or other options. Thanks

A few years ago we stayed at the Double Tree by Hilton on Washington St. It’s about a block and 1/2 to a train station; 1/4 to 1/2 mile walk to Boston Common IIRC. We walked there to start the Freedom Trail.
I think we took an Uber from a restaurant to the ball park but took the train back to the hotel.

We usually rent an AirBnb in the Italian neighborhood called the Northend. Perfect location in a most walkable city, restaurants, shopping etc..

We did Marriott Copley Place and we’re very happy. Nice place, pretty much centered between Fenway and the Freedom Trail.

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency. It was two blocks from Boston Common, close to T stations and only a couple of blocks to Chinatown. The ride on the T to Fenway was easy enough and my kids got to run the bases that day. Good times!

Check out the Hilton Park Plaza. Or if you want to burn through your points, the Four Seasons.
Regarding areas to stay in, I'd recommend you stay close to the T. It's the easiest, cheapest, and fastest way to get around the city to the places you'll want to go. Back Bay would be the top choice. Anywhere near the Common.

Live it up and stay at the Copley Plaza or do check out the Hilton Boston Park Plaza.

I enjoyed my stay in the Canopy by Hilton Boston Downtown (3 years ago). It's in a great spot on the Freedom Trail by the North End.
For a relatively inexpensive but enjoyable family meal, walk a few blocks into North End to the original Regina's Pizzeria (established 1928). Oh, and grab some cannoli at Mike's Pastry.
You're within easy walking distance of Fanueil Hall and the Paul Revere House, and it's really not that far to walk all the way across the Charles River to the USS Constitution.

What about the seaport district? It looks like this is a decent homewood suites there and it doesn't appear to be that far from the other stuff.

The Seaport is a good area. Lots of great bars and restaurants. Typically caters to the 20s crowd on weekend nights.
I will say this. The Seaport is a very new neighborhood. When I moved here 12 years ago, it was basically nothing. Now it's full of high rises and expensive apartment buildings. But it feels like it could be in any other major city. There's nothing inherently "Boston" about it. It's nice, and it's clean, but it's very generic.
You'll have to walk a bit to get to the T unless you want to take the Silver Line (bus), so that's a drawback. But it's not a bad area to be in at all.

Lot of good comments here and in other threads. Back Bay is really nice and would be a great choice. Have not been to that Hilton though. I have stayed at the Canopy on Blackstone Street like the other poster and it’s really nice. Great location and close to T. If you are there on weekend you can go to Haymarket farmers market basically right there. I’m partial to North End. Wife prefers Back Bay. Can’t go wrong. I also use Hilton points a lot so I understand your thoughts.
Agree with Abita that Seaport is really nice and new. A bit sterile but nice restaurants. Ocean Prime was excellent.

I started a post about a month ago for this same trip. Taking a Boston Family trip in June. We are planning to stay at the Hilton Boston Back Bay. Good to know Back Bay is a nice area. Also will be attending a game at Fenway.
Curious how big your family is and how old kids? I have an 8yr old boy and 6 yr old girl. Haven't really planned many other things to do in Boston yet.

Omni Parker House is a place with a lot of neat history if you don't mind a decently nice, yet older not so updated hotel. It's a good location between the Boston Common and the Old State House.
Home of the Boston Cream Pie and Parker House Rolls. The dining room is supposedly where JFK and Jackie O got engaged. Also where Ho Chi Minh was rumored to have once worked as a pastry chef.

I have some Hyatt points to use. Looking at the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor. The fly in the ointment is it is across the Harbor from Downtown. Is there a T station close by? How big of a hassle is it going to be to go back and forth to the Freedom Trail, etc.?

Across the harbor meaning the hotel by Logan? If so that may be a challenge for getting around. Nothing really walkable either.
I’ll defer to Abita since he lives there now but from what I remember that would not be high on my list.

About 2 years ago, I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Boston with small kids and it was a great location. Walkable everywhere, 2 blocks from the Common and not too far a treck anywhere else.
There are two more Hyatts in the city as well, so you have plenty of choices.

Bostonian, its right across the street from Quincy Market and a short walk to the North End

I stayed at The Colonnade in Back Bay, and you get pretty darn spoiled with the T literally being right outside the door.
Back Bay in general is very quiet and nice, so if that's what you're after, it would certainly hit the spot.
