Broken Bow- things to do with the family

Rented a cabin in Hocatown for a few nights around the new year.
My Wife and I are taking our boys who are between the ages of 7 and 11.
Looking for any advice on things to do/places to eat in the area.

We did a few of the hikes but they weren’t very impressive. Wasn’t impressed with Broken Bow at all really and won’t be returning.

fish for rainbow trout in the tail waters
petting zoo
pizza place
rent a boat on the lake
youve reached the limits of Broken Bow
ETA if you were going in the summer, you can swim, kayak, and paddle board in the state park. The water is pretty cold as it's coming from the bottom of the reservoir.

For me when I rent a cabin, I don’t really want to leave the cabin or need things to do. Think the whole point should be do some hiking, get outdoors, build a fire everyday, get off the electronics, cook your own food.
I don’t want shops, restaurants, putt putt, or any of that tourist stuff

We've been to Broken Bow for a handful of times with family. The area is relatively small and not fully developed yet so options compared to the bigger tourist places are somewhat limited.
Beavers Bend State Park provides some hiking trails and fishing opportunities.
There are not too many decent food options but they do have a few breweries nearby that are worth a stop for lunch/dinner.
There is a petting zoo and putt putt there that might be worth a stop if you are looking for things to do.
An 18 hole golf course is nearby that is affordable and a decent layout. It is worth a play if the weather good at that time if you enjoy golf.
It is a pretty area, just not a lot of things to do outside enjoying the cabin.

We just got back last week but it was just my wife and I.
Go on hikes, we did Friend's Trail and Lakeview Lodge Trail. Both weren't very hard but Friend Trail has a decent uphill section. Download the All Trails app and do the 7 day free trail, you'll need it to track your progress on trail as they're pretty poorly marked.
Grateful Head Pizza is really good, but that was the only place we ate while there.
Beavers Bend Brewery was a pretty cool spot and had a bunch of games and stuff for kids to kill some time.
We did some 4x4 trails one afternoon in our 4Runner.
Honestly hanging out at the cabin around a fire and enjoying the quiet was the best part of the trip.
There's also all the standard tourist town stuff if you're into that, a go cart track, a big maze, laser tag place, etc.

We went last month and enjoyed it. We did a horseback ride with Riverman Trail which was really cool. Rode through creeks and had really nice views.
Friends Trail Loop was a pretty hike.
Gratefull Head pizza is the only restaurant worth going to.
We also did the Hochatown Maze and the drive through safari. Both were overpriced but the kids enjoyed.

Rugaru (that’s how they spell it) Zip Line Adventures can be a lot of fun for the kids, if they’ve never been.
There was a kid who was probably 6 or 7 years old in our group, so your kids should be able to meet the height/weight requirements, I think. Might be worth asking just to be safe.
There is a place that does horseback riding as well.
Then there is Beavers Bend Park for hiking. There’s really only a couple of main places with clusters of restaurants and they’re fine.

This, all of this. I'm not a huge beach person, but I'd much rather go to the beach during the winter than go back to Broken Bow.

We usually do Arkansas for a drivable trip of that type but tried to change it up.

I liked Broken Bow for a one-time trip for 3 or 4 days.

There is a drive around safari that was pretty cool. But agree, we hung around the cabin mostly.
