Bringing kids to Camp Ozark for summer camp and thinking of staying at a lake house or in Hot Springs? I don’t know anything about the area. What area the best areas to look for a house rental? Any tips for the area?

Our daughter went last year for the first time. We stayed in vrbo near hot springs. It was ok. We are going to stay in some cabins this year on the river
Also look out for Willie Morris. Got to meet him last year when he was dropping his kids off.

We rented a cabin on Caddo River for the weekend of camp drop off. Check Airbnb/VRBO. Hot Springs is neat for about an afternoon.

Hot Springs is on Lake Hamilton, so you can stay lakeside there or in "town." The lakeside areas near HS are built up. The lake gets very crowded on summer weekends. You do have the advantage of being close to town if you need restaurants or shopping/sightseeing diversions. HS is okay, but you'll have done it in a couple days.
Lake Quachita is a much bigger and impressive lake (connected to Hamilton) that is more rural. There are lots of rental cabins around it, and it is closer to your kid's camp. You can rent boats on either lake. I'd lean to renting a place on Quachita and bringing groceries for grilling and chilling. You can easily day trip in to HS to check it out.

Is there a better side/part of Lake Ouachita to be on? or it doesn't really matter?

We went to Bentonville one year and it was worth the extra drive. This year we're driving to Memphis and flying to Anguilla Mon-Fri and picking the kids up on Saturday. DFW and Memphis are both easy airports to drive to w/ cheaper flights than what you'd normally find in LA. A whole week in Hot Springs would be too long for me.

We did this one year when our kids were at Kanakuk near Branson and almost got divorced because of it.
Coming back through ATL, thunderstorms rolled in and flight to Springfield was cancelled. First flight out on Saturday would not arrive in time. My wife was freaking out that we were going to miss closing/award ceremony. I was like - they are not going to kick them out on the street if we are late. Somehow, that wasn't what she wanted to hear.
There was one seat available on flight to Little Rock so she jumped on it, rented a car and made it to pick up. They then drove up to Springfield, returned car and waited for me to arrive.
Even though I'm pretty sure going on vacation was her idea, I got the blame for poor planning. Almost gave me empathy to the airlines when they don't compensate for weather delays.

Yikes, that possibility has crossed my mind. We'll have parents on standby that can pick them up if need be and we've done enough closing ceremonies where missing that won't be a big deal.

We’ve taken kids there and stayed at both Lake Ouachita and Lake Catherine. Both are great but you need a boat. You can rent them on Lake Ouachita and Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs. I don’t know about Lake Catherine. We took our boat there.

Stay on one of the lakes in Hot Springs. Watching the party barges and boats pass all day while drinking and cooking is awesome. We stayed on Lake Hamilton and really enjoyed it.
