Cheapest And/Or Easiest to Fly into Gatlinburg

Going to a wedding on NYD in Gatlinburg, what are my best options for flights from BR or NOLA? Everything is around $850-$900 for 2 round trip tickets right for NOLA-Knoxville.
ETA: Looking to fly into 29th or 30th and fly out 2nd. If there is some crazy cheap option 31st-2nd would be interested as well.

You could also look at Nashville option Southwest airlines, its a 3 hr drive and time change so be aware. The Nashville airport sits on the east side of town so you avoid some of the traffic hell associated with Nashville
Another airport is Asheville, NC would be a 2 hr drive to Gatlinburg area w/o time change.

Are you looking to fly in right before or a few days before? That could help with pricing as well.

Southwest has tickets from MSY to Greenville/Spartanburg, Carolina for $136 a ticket to and from for a few days before and after NYD.
The drive is about 2 hours and 45 minutes to Gatlinburg

Interesting, I've looked at Nashville, Bristol, Knoxville, and Asheville but not Greenville.

Rental cars are expensive and can be hard to get, make sure you account for this in your planning.

I have a buddy that works for a rental car company and can get a really good discount for me so that shouldn't be an issue.

I would avoid flying into Asheville and probably Greenville at that time of year.
Asheville to Gatlinburg is across very mountainous terrain and I40 tends to frequently close due to snow and rockslides. Greenville to Gatlinburg is also a difficult drive in winter weather.

Side question: How hard would it be to get an Uber from Knoxville to Gatlinburg and vice versa?

I would think there would have to be some sort of shuttle services making that run. Have you looked into that?

We just returned from a week in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge and fly into Nashville. It is about a 3 hour drive from BNA to Gatlinburg.
As others have mentioned, check rental car pricing as each of the airports can vary significantly. We found BNA to be the cheapest overall (flight/rental car).

You should keep your eyes on Boutique Air that flies from New Orleans to Nashville. Usually it's pretty inexpensive but they fly a strange schedule from MSY.

After you drive to the airport, get there early, fly, get your stuff, get a rental car, and drive 3 hours you’d almost be there if you drove the whole way.

I agree with The Boat I often drive as it is not a terrible drive its interstate the entire way until exit 407. Plenty of decent stops along the way for gas and food. The beat down is the drive home if you have to be back shortly after your event.
