Costa Rica All Inclusive With Children

Wife and I are planning a trip with our boys (7 & 5) and have settled on Costa Rica. Chose so that we can explore the outer areas, but also wanted all inclusive as our kids constantly eat and drink. Figured it would be easier.
Anybody have any experiences with any kid friendly resorts there? Any that we must stay away from? All help is appreciated.

Just my opinion, but I don't think an all inclusive is the way to go for somewhere like Costa Rica. There's so much to do and see there, you don't want to be stuck at a resort.

With two young boys who will want to be at the pool 24/7 we may be there more than we would like. Definitely see both sides to this though

Go to Cancun now and Costa Rica when they're older.

Yeah and instead of swimming in the pool you can check out some of the cenotes and swim there.

That's what I'm thinking. Find the cheapest flight to somewhere tropical and find a good family all inclusive. I just wouldn't go to Costa Rica for that when there's so much more there.

How old are your kids? eta: Saw your answer. 5 & & aren't old enough for Costa Rica. If all they want to do is swim in the pool Costa Rica probably isn't your best choice. Go to Playa del Carmen or Akumal to an AI with a side trip to a cenote or Xcaret.
I agree with the other poster that Costa Rica isn't the place to go for an AI. You need to be out doing things...zip line, animal adventures, nature walks, volcano, cloudforest, etc. Yes, you can go lay on a beach, but you are missing most of the actual things to do in Costa Rica.

Go to Hyatt Ziva in Punta Cana, kids would love it. I'd hold off on Costa Rica til they are older.

I went for about a week traveling the country and getting the full Costa Rican experience. Had an amazing time. Then we arrived at an all inclusive for 3-4 days at the end of the trip and it was completely deflating. I felt like I was right back in America. People twerking in the pool, unsupervised kids running around, shitty food. I would definitely not do it again

Hard to beat the Punta Cana resorts if you are looking for an all inclusive. The prices are really good along with quality of the resorts. I am headed to Magestic Elegance in about a month again.

As others have said, Costa Rica is place to get out and explore. But there are also some all-inclusives that allow for some exploration as well.
The Westin Reserva Conchal, All-Inclusive Golf Resort & Spa is a good choice for something like that.
We’ve been down to Costa Rica several times, and we usually don’t stay at all-inclusives, but we stayed here once and had a great time.
It’s right on the beach. Huge pool. Good restaurants. And you can book a variety of really fun and memorable day trips/activities from there.

We just did a week in Costa Rica with Caravan. My 1st time on a group tour and was impressed with how many different things we experienced.
Only the last 2.5 days were all-inclusive at the beach resort. That was enough for me. Food was ok but nothing special. I probably averaged 15 drinks/day which is why 2.5 days was enough.

Following, so I’ll know which ones to avoid.

Four Seasons Papagayo
It’s out on a peninsula and nothing for kids other than the pool and the beach.
Go to Cozumel or Cancun instead.
