it seems a dog Friendly beach so this is where we're headed next week. Any food/activity recommends?

Never had much to eat out there
I think like 2 restaurants and neither is much to speak of

The beaches are decent but water is brown.

If you are looking for dog friendly, I'd recommend the Ft. Morgan area over Dauphin Island.

My post from another Dauphin Island thread recently:

quote:

It’s nice. The water and sand is a little more brown and cloudy, obviously, but not having to deal with all of the high rises, crowds, construction, and obstructed views makes it certainly worth it. It’s much more relaxing and quiet.

Like others have said though, bring as much groceries and necessities as possible.

In terms of restaurants, well, they don't have many. Probably five or so. Islander's was my favorite.

I love Dauphin-very few condos, mostly single family homes. Not very many restaurants & no real grocery store, but we really enjoyed staying there. We stayed on the bay side, but the gulf was only about a 5 min walk.

Pirate's at the old Isle Dauphine Country Club is great. Also Dority's bar.

The old Isle Dauhpine CC is 1950's retro desine, think Jetson's. Really cool.

Enjoy DI, great place!

Make sure to familiarize yourself with the daily schedule and get in line 30-45 minutes early (sometimes more if the weather is nice) Lots of people take the ferry and it fills up quickly.

If you're on Facebook, check out "Mobile Bay Ferry" page. They will give daily updates on when the lots fill up.
