Delta Air Lines is catching heat over seatbelt lengths on its planes after TikToker Remi Bader made a complaint about not fitting into hers in a video to her two million followers.
The plus-size influencer, who is best known for her "realistic" clothing hauls, took to the platform on Tuesday to say that she had an "interesting experience" flying Delta while she was traveling from California to New York.

quote:

The 25-year-old explained on TikTok that she was "freaking out" as she felt that it was unsafe to be without a seatbelt. She also wasn't aware of seatbelt extenders, which are used to make them longer for passengers in planes and cars. "This is not long enough, I don't know what I'm supposed to do," Bader recalled telling a flight attendant later in the flight. "She was like, 'Oh so you’re saying you need an extender?'"
Numerous followers shared that they've had similar experiences.

quote:

I'm sorry a TWELVE/FOURTEEN is where their belts tap out!??? The most COMMON SIZE FOR U.S. WOMEN!!??!" a follower commented on Bader's TikTok.
Another wrote, "We are travelers — seatbelts should be made to fit travelers. Period."
"When I went to buckle my seatbelt for takeoff, I was really taken back to realize that it wouldn’t close around my body," Bader tells Yahoo Life. "I almost thought something was wrong for a second and was pulling it harder because this has never happened to me before."
Bader quickly brought the issue to the attention of her Instagram followers as well when she posted a story this week suggesting that Delta get larger seatbelts. "If it doesn't fit around me that must be a real problem for a lot of other people flying on your planes," she wrote, noting that she's a size 16 or 18.

quote:

This is a really good example of how people who consider themselves midsize or even the people that are on the smaller end of the fat spectrum do not have a whole picture of what people like me and even people larger than me on the fat spectrum experience on a daily basis or even when they’re traveling," the user, whose name is Christine, said in her video. "I am fully aware that [seatbelt extenders] exist because I traveled for my job for almost a year and needed one every single time I got on the plane once or twice a month."

Um yea, there's something wrong. But it's not with the seatbelt.

If you’re that fat .. you know there are extenders unless it’s your first flight of your life as an adult

Aren't the belts made to fit like a male 50-60 inch waist? So this would be bullshite from females unless they are really fricking fat

I think if i hit the point where i needed a seat belt extender on a plane, I’d take a long look at my life and start trying to make some changes in me rather than bitching about the airline not accommodating my fat self.

I don't know who she is, but she has to be lying about being a female size 12. My brother is very close to 300 pounds, and he NEVER needs an extension.

So she’s aware of extenders because she needed one “every single time” she got on a plane once or twice a month for almost a year, but she “was really taken back to realize that it (the basic belt) wouldn’t close around my body,"

Why was she taken aback when this has been a recurring issue for “almost a year”?

It’s almost like she took a common occurrence and tried to blow it up into some bullshite she could write about.

What the hell is an “influencer”?

Glad I wasn’t squished in beside her on that flight.

Here's the complainant, with the look she generally reserves for empty plates of food.

If you need a seat belt extender, then you should be forced to buy two seats, or you simply shouldn't be allowed to fly.

What a dumbass. Wish I had her on my flight. Would’ve gladly given her an extender.

I always get sat next to these busted cans of biscuit arse people. They really should make a policy about size and having to purchase multiple tickets beyond a certain threshold. They won’t though. It’s pretty frustrating.

Claiming airplane seat belts won't fit bigger than a female 12-14 without an extender is complete bullshite.

My ex-wife (DEFINITELY no pics) was bigger than that and never needed an extender from any US airline to comfortably connect the seat belt. I don't know who this chick is, but she's full of it.

I was thinking the same thing.

My wife (no pics) is a size 18 and very comfortably fits into a coach airplane seat and has no problem with the seat belt.

Even at my heaviest when I was a size 48 pants... I had no problems with the seat belt.

And the gal this post is about... she big... but she's not some massive mountain of fat, either.

If seat belts only went to a size 12/14, half the women flying would need an extender.

There's no way in hell that Airbus or Boeing puts shorter seatbelts on the planes that Delta orders than all the planes going to other airlines.
