Destin Seafood Festival 2023

Our friends invited us to the stay at their beach house in Destin for Fall Break. We saw that the Destin Seafood Festival is that weekend and we may go for a day. Our fiends have never been either. It’s apparently a big deal there for Destin Charter Boat Association’s fundraising efforts and has been around for decades. Who on the board has been before and has some tips about what to do ? Are the VIP tickets worth it for just a Saturday ? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Never been but looking at what VIP includes, $60 a person seems reasonable if you are making a day out of it.

Used to be great (in the 80s), then was dull for a while, then became fun again in the '00s, and now is a glorified carnie fest.
Was once a showcase of local restaurants...now it's all state fair...uh...fare.
Similarly, the musical acts used to be fun and worth coming out for. I just checked and the lineup is...lacking.

That’s mainly why I was asking. The VIP tickets really seem like a way to cut all that out and sample some local chefs and restaurant food in a ‘controlled’ environment. The Festival website is really pushing that side of it as well.
