Going for a wedding this weekend. Will likely arrive in the early afternoon and leave the following morning before noon (Saturday to Sunday). Any recommendations for food that fits around those times are appreciated.

You want downtown? El Barrio comes to mind. Good, more upscale Mexican place. There are now a bunch of good restaurants downtown, but I’m not sure who is open for lunch on Saturday.

What type of food do you like?

Saws for BBQ

Surin West for Thai

El Barrio is a good suggestion for tacos and bowls

Chez Fonfon has a fantastic burger

Tasty Town is a newer "nice" Greek/Mediterranean spot

Need some details about what you want. Downtown Bham has some great options.

this is key

there's good options for a variety of different tastes but narrowing down a bit will definitley help.

I can eat just about anything but BBQ and tacos sound great considering several posters are vouching for El Barrio.

El Bario is legit. Never been for lunch, but I'd anticipate a wait.

For bar food, I'd try Paramount.
For a grungy sandwich place, the Garage is great.
Shu-Shop for a cool ramen place.
Rougarou for the local cajun place.
Chex Fon Fon for a nicer lunch spot. Get the burger.

I've had the burger at chez fon fon once just because of the rave reviews and to check that box to say I did it, but I wouldn't do it again. Was it good? Well yeah, it was a nice tasty burger. But if you simply want a good burger you can probably go to 2 or 3 dozen other places and get one for half the price.

Agreed. The burger at Foodbar is WAY better, but the dude said he was gonna be downtown. Guess I could have sent him to Carlile's BBQ. I like the burger there.

In addition to those mentioned, other options include Back Forty, the Pizitz Foodhall, Pizza Grace, and Eagles Restaurant.
