Donovan’s Steak & Chop House on K Street between 5th & 6th streets.
On Friday’s at happy hour they have free steak sandwiches, or they used to. Saw that on a TV show, didn’t eat there at that time.
We ate there before our flight back east and the food & service were very good. I would go back.

Lot of options. Little Italy probably has the most options for sit down restaurants and breweries. High C is by the airport and has a great view of the bay.
I feel like Gaslamp district is a bit more touristy. But there are some good options there. Cafe Sevilla was amazing. I had on an LSU shirt and the chef came over and sat with us for a while. His roommate was from West Baton Rouge and he had visited BR a year or two before. He kept bringing us wine and food to taste. Pretty awesome experience. Werewolf is an awesome bar with great bar food too. Just know what your spirit animal is before going in there.

Richard Walker's Pancake House will be close by and is good for breakfast. Go early or wait in line outside.
Landini's in Little Italy has good pizza by the slice.
Carnitas Snack Shack is a little walk, but have fantastic sandwiches.
If you make it to Ocean Beach, hit up Hodad's for a burger. Although, I think there's one downtown and another in Petco Park. But, I prefer the Ocean Beach location.
If you can, get away from gaslamp and see the different areas of the city. You're pretty much guaranteed to love the city as it is awesome. I'm jealous.
