Going on a cruise in June. Me, Mrs. Goose, and Kid Goose. I'm confused on how the internet packages work. I can get all of us a package for $18/day per person. That $270 for the cruise just to get online! That's straight forward, but they have another option that doesn't make sense. I can get internet for one person, and add multiple devices. That's a lot cheaper. What the catch If I do this and add 3 devices? Could I not just list their phones as a device?

Why do you need more than one device online? Take pics with one device then share it so everyone can post what they want then enjoy being in the Caribbean without being tethered to your cell phones for a week.

Thanks for answering my question with your opinion on how I SHOULD BE SPENDING MY TIME.

Well he’s right. Enjoy the vacation. Not having internet is one of the few reasons I’d go on a cruise.

You can get the three device package and they can login in their devices with your login info. The difference is you can’t do things like chat with them via the all since technically, they’re logging in as you but yes, if all you want is internet access for all than you can get the one package for multiple deceives.

There was a time, when you could ask a simple travel question here. Now, it's evolved into asshats passing judgement on how you should spend your vacation. Stupid arse, motherfrickers like you and the other cocksucker, have no idea why I might need internet access to 3 fricking phones! I guess you stupid arse dickheads think we are all posting our Insta's for "likes" and shite, instead being business owners with elderly parents with extreme health conditions, and expecting them to keep up with whose phone number acutally works!.

Here's a thought: How about answering the mother fricking question asked, instead of giving your stupid arse opinion on how someone else should spend their vacation. Don't know, or have any experience? Then how about sticking to Grindr, where your expertise will be favored by most.

Not every forum here is the OT, you stupid son of a bitch! And yes, I would say that right to your face, internet punk hiding behind a keyboard.

Thanks for the first real advice for my question. Since all I got until you posted, was shite talk, I scoured the internet and found some real answers. Apparently, the best option, is to get one internet package on one phone, then hot spot your phone to other devices. We are all together during the day, we all will have communication access. Even better, my 17 y/o will be forced to stop staring at the phone if I cut off the wifi!

Sounds like a plan. And remember too that your login info isn’t regulated to just one single device, it’s only for one device at a time.

So, let’s say you and the wife are going out to a specialty restaurant on your own, then to the show and then our dancing or to an event…if you log out, your son can login using your account in his phone. You can share the package between different people they just can’t use it at the same time.

We hardly ever get the internet package but there are times we kind of have to (something important at work, remote school work for daughter, etc) and in those instances we only get one package and just share it when needed.

Voom internet and the app communication IMing are two different logins. You don't need a Voom paid account to use the ship wifi to use the chat function in app, but it was recently disabled anyway because someone hacked it and was sending nasty messages to everyone. I don't know if they brought it back yet.

To OP

Getting Voom internet for whatever devices you want through one account will work. You get a different login for however many devices you paid for, so that login can be used for however many devices you want, but only one can be signed in at a time for each login. I usually get one and share with the wife. Also keep in mind different sales can and will pop up, up until your sale date. You can take advantage of these sales and get cheaper prices even after you purchased.

Voom internet is pretty jank, especially with everyone onboard, this won't work with iOS devices as iOS devices require a cellular connection to hotspot, unsure if it will work with Android, maybe with rooted/rom type hotspotting. If you can get it to work, none of you will have a good time with the internet.

I guess I'm going to have to rethink this. One of our issues is that me and the wife will have a stateroom on another deck than my daughter. Between being able to communicate with work as needed, house sitter keeping our dogs, elderly parents with all kinds of health issues, and keeping up with a teenager that will probably 3 levels of the ship away from us, I may have to just break down and buy her an internet package.

I guess my confusion on this stemmed from 3 packages vs. 3 devices. From what I now understand is, if I get 3 devices, I can only be logged into one at a time? Is that correct? $270 for 5 days of internet access is crazy!

If you get three devices then your login info can be logged into three devices simultaneously.

I honestly don’t know why people pay it and even our teen understands the value of disconnecting for a few days. There’s wifi in ports and unless
the internet is NEEDED and not wanted just skip all the packages altogether and check emails and touch base with family kn each port.

Get one package, two devices. Let your daughter have one device and you the and the wife share a device/login. You can use it when you want then log out. Then she can use it when she wants and log out. Your daughter can stay logged in the whole time.

3 devices on one package vs 3 packages with one device can be the same, you are getting 3 separate Voom logins. The difference is usually who is paying for it. One RCCL account pays for 3 devices vs 3 RCCL accounts paying for one device. These logins can be shared with anyone no matter who pays as it is Voom logins you pay for, not logins with your RCCL account. You get access login information for each device on paperwork in your stateroom when you board.

The teen can find friends and use the ships activities and will have access to the free ships wifi to communicate with ship friends if it is working again. I'd say just get a 2 device on one account if both you and your wife need it for work.

Purchase the surf & stream package, then add an additional device. You no longer need to pay for their messaging service on the boat, it's built into the app. I would book now and if it's cheaper later on, cancel and rebook. 35% off internet is probably the best deal, maybe 40%.

To answer your question, if you purchase 1 person and add multiple device, only 1 person can use the internet at a time. While you're logged into the wifi service and your kid wants to use the internet and doesn't know you're connected, he would have to sign on in which you get disconnected from the internet.

Best thing if you need to be connected to your kid, I would purchase 1 at a discounted rate and usually they offer 20% off 2nd line.

It's been several years (6 or so), but the only experience I have had with it I found the accessibility was spotty and slow.

Apparently, they've got Starlink now. I last cruise I went on, was about 8 years ago and the internet coverage sucked. Supposed to be a lot better now.

Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't understand the difference between 3 accounts and 3 devices.

It’s better, but it’s still not very good. Especially on at sea days.
