Enterprise Rent A Car Story

My wife and kid (no pics) flew American Airlines from Seattle, through Dallas, to Bismarck. We had a car booked for them to pick up in Bismarck upon arrival at 8pm.
Well, after six (6!!) gate changes and a 3 hour delay in Dallas, American Airlines finally found someone to fly the plane and get them on their way. However, I was concerned that the rental counter might shut down in Bismarck before they got there.
While they were in the air, I called Enterprise customer service. The rep spoke perfect English and took all my information, then he put me on hold. Next voice was a female who told me she was the counter attendant in Bismarck and that they normally get shut down at 11pm, but that they would wait until 11:30pm for my wife and kid.
Super friendly, kind, courteous and not the least bit put out by my request.
Wife calls at about 11:15pm, says they've landed, but they're still on the plane on the tarmac in Bismarck because there's no ground crew to get them to the gate.
I call Enterprise again. Main agent patches me through to the counter girl in Bismarck, who is cool as hell, and assures me that she'll just hang around and wait for my wife and kid. Pleasant, kind ... totally reassuring.
I tell my wife to make sure to tip the counter agent and thank her profusely.
My wife finally gets to the Enterprise counter at about 11:45pm. She and my kid are the only people at the counter and the girl gets them squared away and even upgrades them to a Volkswagen Atlas, without them even asking.
My wife then offers a $50 tip for all of her trouble, and the girl refuses the tip, saying, "Ma'am, this is my job, we're supposed to be here for our customers". (My wife left the tip on the counter anyway as she walked away).
Absolutely, the BEST customer service of any travel experience we've ever had. I'll never rent from anyone else.
(And the trip home was on Delta ... smooth sailing. American Airlines can f*ck off).

Never had poor service with Enterprise.

I believe they are a family owned, private company with a phenomenal training program for new hires. One company that still has company spirit.

Seattle to Bismarck goes through Dallas?! That really sucks.

I've heard of several companies that try and poach Enterprise new hires.

If you fly American. It’s Denver on United, Minneapolis/St. Paul on Delta.

They and Cintas will not hire you if you're over 35.

American pulled that shite with us in Miami a few months ago. …kept pushing our flight and finally cancelled around midnight. We spent the night in the airport with a 5 year old to catch the first flight out on United. frick them.

Well that definitely wasn't the direction I thought this post was going in. But glad to hear it. Refreshing to hear stories of employees going above and beyond, especially in this day and age.

National (who bought enterprise) ftw

Good to hear. You should send this positive experience to corporate and to her direct manager. Even though she can't accept a tip, a good review to her superior would appreciated!

My daughter (no pics) graduated from LSU and went to work for Enterprise in Scottsdale. At that time, they only hired college grads. Not sure if that is still the case. She was told that an Enterprise mention on your resume would open doors and that was absolutely true. She can still wash over 3 cars in 20 minutes. LOL

Me neither, but that is great, and I'm glad they left a tip.

Come get flexed on at cultchaprise in Alexandria on MacArthur. Talk about a nightmare. Every other time has been great with them though.

I rented 3 vehicles from them over the last month at three different locations in both Louisiana and Arizona. Couldn’t have been treated better. Had a junky car I decided I couldn’t deal with (I didn’t realize how stained the backseat was) and they swapped my Malibu for a Jeep Cherokee.
My company uses National and therefore I get the corp rate at Enterprise too. Will happily keep using them.

All 100% true. I am hardcore about Enterprise, big Delta fan, and I think AMR is run by the North Koreans.

Thank you OP. Like others have said it's good to hear about great service when you almost always hear the horror stories.
I know who I will rent a car from in the future.

Had an extremely similar situation in Montana a few years ago. I was blown away.
Also the enterprise on Airline stayed cool under pressure when they were absolutely mobbed after the 2016 flood.
