Just starting to plan. I initially was looking at London but the flights are 3k+ from CLT (multiple stops). Seems Paris and Rome are half that. Anyone out there also planning and what are you finding to be the best deals for June or July?

We did Paris and Normandy about 4 years ago so would like to go somewhere other than France.

France is a big country. I would just keep running searches on CLT to « Europe » until you see something good.

What’s your points situation? That might open things up. I wouldn’t pick anything with more than one stop to my final destination if I could help it.

Summer is going to be high. There's a direct to Munich from CLT. Check Dublin, it's usually not too bad.

If you have no destination in mind just put in Europe in the google flights search bar and look at flexible dates. Watch it and you’ll see deals regularly.

Amsterdam, Paris, Dublin are all pretty good.

However, I think Spain has the most consistent low cost flights and it’s one of my favorite destinations.

Barcelona and Madrid are consistently low imo.

Iceland came up and I really wasn’t considering it but the flights are under $700 for nonstop and the flight is under 6 hrs. Portugal also seems to be reasonably priced and an interesting destination.

Iceland yes is cheap to go to.

Portugal is possibly next on my list actually. It’s cheap and everyone raves about it. Lisbon and Porto are both supposed to be great.

It's fantastic. Easy to get to Lisbon, beautiful scenery, great weather, incredible food, interesting architecture, very affordable, it really has it all. I can't speak to Porto personally, but friends that have gone have really enjoyed it.

We flew to Stockholm this summer from DC for about $600 round trip. SAS has pretty cheap flights usually from DC to Copenhagen and the major cities in Norway as well.

People think of Scandanavia as being extremely expensive, which is can be, but because the dollar is currently so strong we stayed in excellent hotels and had some great meals and it was no more expensive than any city in the US. Actually probably cheaper.

So I've never been overseas. If I wanted to look at prices from MSY to places in other countries, using Google flights is the best? And I can just type in the continental area like Europe or south American and such?

Yes, exactly that. Flying out of MSY I think anything in economy main cabin for less than $600 is excellent, and it is achievable, but $7-800 is more likely. Pull down the price bar to sub $1k and see if you get hits.

I'm seeing $1421 RT from DFW to Madrid end of June departure and middle july return, nonstop there and 1 stop back. $1271 if you don't check a bag. Milan looks to be the cheapest at $1300 w/ checked bag and 1 stop coming and going at heathrow.

I was looking at flights to Italy for early summer, got my hair blown back. Don't see that happening at this point.

Did an 11 day Lisbon/Porto trip in October and it was wonderful and incredibly affordable for Europe

You can go into google flights and set your departure Airport/Airports (CLT, GSP, etc.) and then set the destination as "Europe".

From there, you can filter the price and the destinations will appear on a map

EDIT: I picked a random week in July and see
Reykjavik (1 Stop): $904
Lisbon (1 Stop): $1003
Venice (1 Stop): $1096
Milan (1 Stop): $1117
Zurich (1 Stop): $1154
Oslo (1 Stop): $1234

All from Charlotte

Definitely an option. I mentioned rather not doing France again after that was my last big trip but now we’re considering revisiting a totally different region.

Want cheap? Try one of several Eastern European countries. Fly into London, Munich, Amsterdam, then fly a regional airline.

My choices would be: Solvenia; Czechia (Prague and Ceský Krumlov particularly) Hungary (Budapest particularly); Croatia in that order. We had a great time in Poland last December and that could be another option.

We're going to Portugal in May. Friends that have been there recently loved it and often commented about how cheap it is, so there's that.
