So last week the wife and I stayed in Kanab, which is a nice little town in Utah right above the Arizona border. For what we were after it was pretty centrally located. We flew into St George and stayed at Basecamp37. It's a place with 5 tents and a main/common house for showers, bathrooms, and a kitchen. Tents were very nice, wood floors, nice beds, small solar setups for light/fan/charging devices. No air conditioning but it was 60 at night so it was perfect sleeping weather. Could also sit on the front porch at night and look at the milky way.

At Zion we did the Angel's Landing trail up to the chains (didn't get the permit) and then did the Narrows. At Bryce we did the smaller canyon loop trail (navajo loop to wall street). We lucked into a permit for the wave which was awesome. We got denied initially when we applied for the permit a couple of months ago but another couple arrived to our camping place on the 2nd night with a permit for 4 because they thought their kids were joining but the kids backed out. So we filled the 2 spots. The Wave was a long day but it was so worth scrapping our initial plans for that day and doing that instead.

Anyway it was a great trip, here's some pics and happy to answer any Q's if someone is interested in something similar.

Looks like a great trip. How were the buses in Bryce and Zion in the summer?

we got to Bryce early enough to not need a bus, for Zion we parked right outside the south entrance in Springdale and walked to the visitor center and got on the bus there. There was only a bad wait for the bus one time, there was a school program there with like 50 kids so it took a couple of bus runs to get them out

Fair warning on Kanab. Almost all the restaurants close on Sundays and Mondays. Stayed there this past May and after a long day of hiking Bryce, we arrived back around 5pm to find only 4 restaurants open and all with a 2 hour wait. Ended up having the most expensive Wendys meal of my life.

Ouch. We flew out on Sunday so luckily didn't have that problem. We ate at place in town called Sego that was really good. Need a reservation though, probably on 12-13 tables in there.
