Global Entry vs Mobile Passport Control (MPC)

My wife and I are traveling to Europe in July. We've applied for Global Entry, but it's looking like we may not get approved in time for our trip. At a party last night, a friend suggested Mobile Passport Control as an alternative. He says it does everything Global Entry does.
Does anyone have experience with MPC?

Not quite, but still a good option. Most people seem to not know about it. Plus it's free and quick to setup.

I'm using it in Bahamas next week for the first time, but from what I've read, it'll save substantial time in line.

You bypass the long line at passport control coming back in.
Download the app now and have all your info saved. Once you land while in taxi send your info for arrival and you will have a receipt you show.
It does save time…if the arrival airport has a dedicated MPC line.

I assume DFW would have such line.

It does.
The signs can be hard to spot until you're used to it. At least in IAH, you follow the crew that are going through immigration.
Sometimes, I'm looking at you SFO, MPC is closed. I think that's happened to me twice in a decade of using MPC and its predecessor, but if you're connecting in DFW, don't think you're guaranteed to make a risky connection just because of it.

You can add your and your wife's passports and selfies now. You don't have to wait until landing. Once you land, you can click click click and you're ready to roll long before you hit the gate.
I've never had more than three people in front of me at any one time using the MPC lane.

Some friends somehow got their GE revoked by a power hungry agent and has been using MPC ever since. Still saves them significant time than the regular regular line bc even less people use/aware of it than GE.

Dammit, we're going to Europe in June and coming back direct from London to New Orleans. And I just checked; LANOIA does NOT have it.

If you are conditionally approved for GE, you can do your interview at the some airports upon your return, check if your return airport is one of them.

New Orleans isn't a big international airport so it may not be a huge deal.

Thanks for the information. FYI I sent in Global Entry applications for both my wife and I. She heard back the next day. The only place and time for an interview before our July trip was June 22 in San Antonio. I didn't hear back for a week and the nearest time I could schedule in San Antonio was July 4.
We are going to reschedule our interviews at DFW in September after we return from Europe. We have the MPC app and our information loaded in. We'll see how that works.

Right, MSY is not an airport that is deplaning four or five widebodies within 30m of each other.
Besides, even if MSY had it, they'd find a way to screw it up.

The number of people we bypassed yesterday in Charlotte was amazing. I am not sure we would have made the connecting flight if we were in the regular line.

You can also do your Global Entry interview on arrival to USA. MPC is usually as fast as GE and the last time I was in DFW the MPC was shorter than the interview line and my connection was too short to do the interview, but you may be able to kill two birds. But yes, MPC is awesome.

Just used the MPC app for the first time in ATL 2 days ago. Easy to use/figure out, & I was through customs in less than 10 minutes.

Used MPC app for the first time returning from Nassau today. Literally no one else was in the MPC line & regular customs line had a couple hundred people in it.
