Hotel Recs for kids near Minute Maid park

We are going to Houston for 3 nights at the end of July. I'm hoping to catch an Astros game or two. They are night games so I'm looking for something to entertain the kids during the day. We considered staying at the Woodlands resort and driving in for the game(s). But I'm wondering if some more convenient options don't require a 30+ minute drive to/from the game. TIA

When I stayed in Houston with my mom we always stayed at the Home2Suites on almeda rd. Came with a great breakfast and was super reasonably priced and prob 15 minutes or so away.

Marriott Marquis is across the street and has the giant Texas lazy river/pool thing. Hotel Zaza might also be a good option - close to the Houston Zoo and in a nice area of the city.

The Marriot with the lazy river is great, but pricey. Hotels in the Minute Maid areas are pricey. For more affordable rates, stay near the galleria.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind the drive for the games if I were staying multiple days with kids. I’d pick comfort and affordability over location with kids. Now, if you can afford the Marriott or another hotel in the area, by all means, do it.

Thanks. I don't mind forking over a few extra bucks for the convenience. This will be my kids' first game there. Is it safe to assume there are other things to do nearby? 3 days at that pool and they may get restless. I know Houston is huge, so I'd rather not be driving far to entertain them.

Not much to do activity-wise, but you can drive or Uber anywhere in the downtown area.
Katy and/or Woodlands have ifly skydiving and Andretti go carts. Kemah boardwalk is an option although it’s pretty small and not much to it besides a pretty picture. There are museums for kids downtown. Aquarium for kids, but it’s a very small aquarium. Don’t expect a large all-day activity.

The Aquarium is not worth the money. Houston is such a big city, and I had high hopes for the aquarium, but I was let down. The Zoo is absolutely worth the money, but it's very hot outside.

If you go down to Galveston, they have a schlitterbahn water park. Also a pleasure pier on seawall.

Right next to the zoo is the Museum of Natural Science, which ended up being our alternative to the zoo with the hot temps.
Lots of dinosaur, animal & space exhibits that filled a few hours during the day.
We had to end up staying in the medical corridor (not as nice hotels as downtown but much cheaper)… the Metro light rail was an option for the museum/zoo and also to get downtown (though it’s about a 10 minute walk to Minute Maid from the closest stop)

I took my 8 and 6 year old grandsons to an Astros game. We stayed at the Marriott Marquis. The boys loved it, especially with the lazy river. It was within easily walking distance of Minute Maid Park too.
