Hotels.com and Expedia gone to "OneKey" - Any Experience?

So I was a big Hotels.com guy because my work took me to random places and being a Marriot guy wasn't so feasible. Sometimes the nearest Marriot was $300/night which is crazy. Hotels.com gave me 1 night free for every ten nights, assuming the free night to be the average of the prior 10 nights.
They canceled that and offer "OneKey" now. This is nowhere near as good of a deal as they tell you how much OneKey you earn and its usualy 3-5 percent. Ergo instead of a free night for every ten nights, it's now a free night for approximately 26 nights.
This sucks, especially as a power user. Is there somethign better out there?

Do you work for yourself? I’m just curious why you care about the prices and have so much flexibility? And if you work for yourself it probably gives you additional options.

I also used hotels.com due to traveling random places and I’m more loyal to price (to a certain extent) than I am a brand. The new rewards system does suck, but I’ll continue to use them due to the ease of comparing hotels in an area and convenience in booking from the same website.

Yes, I have my own product line and do business development for similar products sold by non-competing companies. Sometimes I pay for my own, sometimes it goes on an expense account but I don't need or want anything crazy. Often if I'm on a one night trip to somewhere like Knoxville, I check in after dinner at maybe 8-9pm, then get back on the road at 8am. There is no sense in paying $300/night, nor does it make me cost effective to those that retain me. But college towns for example have peak nights like mom's weekend or dropoff weekend.

I’m a 10 year Platinum member of Hotels.com and this OneKey bullshite is horrible.
They’ve ruined a great rewards program.
The only other hotel reward program I’m in is Hilton Rewards and dont stay at Hiltons much.
After all these years I’ll be losing/giving up my platinum status at Hotels.com

If you go somewhere like this, aren’t all the hotels expensive?
I would just become a member of 2 different hotels and use one as often as possible and the other whenever it’s expensive. I’m assuming you are just staying in cheap/ lower end hotels when a Marriott is more?

I'm pissed any it because I had 9 stats and needed just one more for anther free room.

It looks like the issue is they added Expedia/ VRBO and the issue there is those can be $1000s of dollars, much more than 10 hotel stays. So they’d be giving out free stays all the time without a change. Not saying it’s right, just a poor rewards compared to similar hotel deals.

Im a fairly frequent traveler and every now and then you book a stay and the prices are WTF for no apparent reason.
You can almost always pin it to sports or a conference.
Last year we were in DFW and needed to stay in the Lewisville area and everything for 30 miles was $200+ a night. Well there was the Junior Women’s hockey national tournament going on and they jacked rates for that.
One time I couldn’t find a cheap hotel in the Rio Grand Valley at all. National Jehovah’s Witness conference booked up 30 miles of hotels.

I'd been a big user of Hotels.com for all my travel lodging. Buy 10 get 1 free. Most of the travel over the last year has been VRBO or AirBNB, but I just went to Utah and ended up with 2 different hotel nights.
#1 $245
#2 $191
________
$436 + fees total
My reward was $7.68 total
1.7% reward back off of the total.
My previous HOTELS.com reward would have been 10%. They've certainly lost any loyalty I once had for them. Utter crap reward system now.
