All that extra wasted time and stress to not buy a $9 bottle of sunscreen at the resort…doesn’t seem worth it.

We flew out Dec 29th to Cancun, got there less than 2 hours before the flight. No problems. We flew Spirit, less than a two hour flight. Coming back, 1 hr 36 mins. This was our second year to spend New Years in a Secrets Resort. Will do it again this coming New Years.

Is it? I’ve only flown out of MSY the last 20 years or so (other than coming back from other places, obviously) and it has never been bad. Even with the new airport I have never waited longer than 10-15 minutes. Maybe it’s because I always schedule early flights out?

Like any airport, consider the variables.
Are you checking a bag? There could be a lot of flights for that airline that were canceled due to weather in a completely different location that can impact you…add time.
Do you have precheck? If not…add time.
Do you have kids or people that don’t travel a lot?…add time
Are you driving a long distance to airport and can be impacted with car accidents or bad weather adding traffic?…add time
Do you have to deal with a rental car or a shuttle?…add time
Do you need to print boarding passes, passport check, cleared for Covid, etc?…add time
