Wife and I are driving up the California coast in the middle of May. Going from San Jose, CA to Seattle, WA. Trying to figure out if we should stop at both of these places or only carve time out for one. Advice?

Go to either Prairie Creek Redwoods SP or Jedediah Smith SP, or both. Those both have some of the biggest old growth that is easily accessible.

Redwoods NP is bigger in size but has a lot of second growth and the good old growth is pretty deep and harder to access. Humboldt is good too but I think the ones I mentioned are better. I live in Northern California and have been up there a lot.

During your drive be sure to take "The Avenue of the Giants". It's just off 101 and worth it.
