Ideas for a couples weekend getaway? Driving out of BR.

My SO and I are coming up on our anniversary and I want to take her somewhere as a surprise. It'd be a weekend in mid-July. I rather not fly and just drive somewhere. Suggestions? Budget being less than 1k between the both of us.

How far to you feel comfortable driving?

Based on what I have been reading here, I'd look into the Ozarks. A bit cooler in July than south LA and easy drive.
If you don't care about heat, just a nice hotel in NOLA with reservations at good places to eat.

There is a thread on Eureka Springs in Arkansas. I have been there and it is really great. Also Branson, MO, is a good vacation spot for a weekend.

That is a big budget for a weekend trip where you can easily fly somewhere cool. Unless you don't want to fly for some other reason.

Look at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear Alabama or a bed and breakfast nearby in Fairhope.
I'm not big on driving more than 5 hour or so for just two or three nights so we've visited this area a few times

About 3-5 hours.

To get anywhere real cool that isn't local I'd easily be looking at 500+ for both flights. That doesn't leave much room for hotels and food and whatever else we might want to do.

I've been here a couple times and this is a great getaway spot. Plenty of things to do.

Way too far of a drive.

I'll look into this.

I concur on The Grand but that may blow up your budget pretty quick depending on what your plans are.

You could go for a relaxing weekend at a bed and breakfast in St Francisville or Natchez. They're both pretty close and nice.

Chattanooga(8 hour drive)- Stay at the Sky Harbor Bavarian Inn. It's old, but quaint, on the side of the mountain, and right near all of the attactions.

If you want fancier, more expensive digs:

I have to be honest, a 3-5 hour distance from BR doesn't leave you with a whole lot to work with, especially in the summer where a lot of outdoor activities are going to be brutally hot. But for whatever reason, you have the Boston logo as your avatar so I'll try and help anyway.

Obvious answers are somewhere in Florida for a beach trip, but that's not very unique.
I know a lot of the area is bad, but Mobile actually has a cool little downtown that you could kill a day or two in.

Yeah bro I enjoy living here but we have to be in the shittiest spot as far as vacationing nearby is concerned. Nothing close at all and I've pretty much explored every bit of this state.
I thought about beaching it but my SO is going to going on two beach batchelorette parties this summer.
I'm considering making a longer trip to Austin and going hike a few trails. Never been there so not sure what else there is to do. Heard it's great though.

I'm doing my bachelor party in Austin in the fall. Never been either so I can't really help - but I've never heard anyone say a bad word about it. I was going to suggest Austin but I knew it was past a 5 hour drive.

Austin
There are a couple of nice properties a little north of Austin in the hill country that might work for them.
J.W. Marriott is one of them.
Sorry, I'm just not big on long drives for a weekend getaway.
OP, if you do want to hit the beach, the Henderson Park Inn near Destin is adult only I believe and seems nice.
Also, the Pearl Hotel on 30A is supposed to be pretty bad arse. LINK
