If you could choose to go to one beach in the continental US, where would it be?

Trying to go to a beach after a long winter of 20 degree weather. Passport is being replaced, not trying to spend a lot on flights. So not going to Hawaii, or Caribbean. What do think is THE beach spot here domestically?

This time of year? Somewhere in SW Florida.

Prettiest beach in terms of sand/water? Florida panhandle
Prettiest in terms of cliffs/rock? Northern California (Carmel, Half Moon Bay, many others)
Best human scenery? San Diego, Miami/South Beach area

The one I go to on a regular basis is Destin, (specifically Miramar Beach) but if I had to pick one to be transported to right now, it would be La Jolla, California and I would stay at La Valencia Hotel. That place is gorgeous.

I guess it depends on where you live. I can’t imagine a scenario where California and Florida are both in driving distance.

Siesta Key
Good choice. I love the beaches in and around San Diego but Siesta Key is right up there.

Was there this past July for my wife’s birthday, it was absolutely incredible!

I LOVE Key West but the beaches are not what it’s known for.
Gulf Coast FL/AL is my answer.

Haha, the casinos make Biloxi fun for me. If you do happen to be in Biloxi and wanna go to the beach, go to ship island. The water is much better.

But preferably a spot without oil rig views.

No finer beach in the US than Grand Isle. Has everything you could need

Aly’s Beach…Rosemary if you’re looking for something cheaper.

Depends on what you want. Time. Budget. When.
But..
Couple of thoughts based upon where I used to live in Florida or where friends go.
1. Cape San Blast. Probably fly into Tallahassee.
2. Amelia Island. Probably fly into Jacksonville.
3. Sanibel Island (Multiple Options). Probably fly into Ft. Meyers. Maybe Tampa. Not that far drive.

If you are talking about basically NOW or in the next couple of weeks, AND you want to do actual beach stuff like walking or laying on the sand in swimsuits, or even getting IN the water, then the only answer is extreme South Florida-- Miami Beach, Sanibel/Captiva, or somewhere in the Florida Keys, which is not known for having miles and miles of beaches, but DOES have enough to suffice for a getaway and will probably have the warmest temps.
Temps anywhere along Florida's northern gulf coast (Seaside, Destin, Pensacola, Ft. Walton, Panama City, etc.) and its northern Atlantic coast (Ponte Vedra Beach, St. Aug., Daytona, etc.) are far too cold to have the "warm weather beach experience". Areas around Tampa Bay are likely too cold as well.
Now, if you just want to take a walk on a beach in a sweater and shoes and look at the ocean, everything from the Pacific Coast up to around Cape Hatteras on the Atlantic is in play... I was on the beach at Hilton Head and then Jekyll Island, GA during the week between Christmas and New Year's, and that's about all it was good for.

We really enjoy Marco Island beach. Stay at JW Marriott if you can.
