Is there any reason I can’t make roughly one hour connections through charlotte?

Fly all the time but 99% direct. Dallas-charlotte-punta cana both ways

About an hour going out and an hour fifteen coming back through. All flights are American. Customs may be a concern coming back into CLT, but I assume American wouldn’t allow bookings if making the connection wasn’t doable

What time are your flights? Early morning?

Good

Not good. I'd be very worried about this especially with customs and needing to re clear security

My problem with Charlotte is the fact they always send me to the very opposite terminal furthest away.

I’ve never had a problem clearing customs, but I’ve never flown back in through CLT. Arrive at 4:45 on Sunday to CLT. CLT to DFW leaves at 6. There’s flight after if I don’t make it.

Seems like I have this problem there too

Sorry to hijack but with Cuse around...
I'm thinking about booking a 1 hr 10 minute connection in AMS through Delta (KLM flight). I'll have to clear exit immigration so it will be cutting it close. However there are later flight options back to the US from AMS, but they are much more expensive. If I book the short connection I assume that they will rebook me on a later flight if I miss it? So there's not really anything to lose by gambling for the cheaper ticket?

It's a long ways and there's no tram. If you know the flight numbers you should be able to see what gates the flights are landing and taking off from for the past few days and that may give you some insight

Interactive map. It'll give you estimated walk times from one gate to another. Shave a couple minutes off if you're not a dumbass

My aunt and uncle go through there a lot. They complain about this constantly.

I routinely make 30 minute connections in CLT. Outbound, you will have no issues.

Coming back, unless you have Global Entry (even with the MPC app) you are going to cut it close. Charlotte is not great for international arrivals, especially when all the Caribbean flights arrive in the early evening.

CLT is very easy to navigate. American uses B, C, D (International) and E (Regional).

B/C/D are all within 5-10 minute walks. E can be a long trip if you are in the E30+ area.

I just flew back to CLT from PUJ and made it through customs and to my shuttle in probably 10 minutes. It was the easiest it's ever been.

Based on what I’ve seen so far, I’m going to chance it. I’m front of the plane, like row 10, coming in. If I miss it there’s several more flights back to dfw that evening

Years ago… I had a one hour connection that landed late. I still had time plenty of time when I deboarded and hurried to my gate with about 15 mins to spare. But the plane left early.

There was no weather around to make them leave early. So I’m there in time and people started showing up behind me for same plane. About 8-10 of us in total. Charlotte to New Orleans.

How do you leave early when not all the passengers are there yet?????? It still pisses me off when I think about it

The last 3 times I came home into MSY from CLT, I landed in the B6ish area and had to go to E 34 or 36 I think. It was over by the end of E.

Same question but ATL and Delta. Going to Italy. BTR to ATL to Paris to Venice. Mid Dec 2025.

The layover in ATL is 43 minutes. Delta has an earlier flight about of BTR, and I'm thinking of moving departure back to then. Even though we will already be inside the system by that point, I'm just nervous that 43 minutes is cutting it too closely.

The bog down will be having to claim your luggage, go through Customs/Immigration, and then go through security and recheck your luggage for your connecting flight.

Lots of potentials in there for wasted time. You can stand around 15 minutes waiting on the first suitcase to come into the luggage claim area, and the lines for security are unpredictable.

Land at E, connection at A. Its about a mile of walking. I dont use the people movers but they have been under construction at CLT for a long time. That moves all the foot traffic to the narrow walkway. So if your connection time is tight its not the distance but the crowd that may get you.
