Which would be a better location to stay for accessibility to things to do, getting out and walking around, restaurants, shopping, etc?
Also, what hotel would be better... Marriott at the Shops or the Renaissance? Any others in the area to consider?

They're basically the same thing. You can walk across the road from one to get to the other. Shopping wise, there's a good many places at Legacy West. Same with food. Several restaurants and you have Legacy Hall with tons of choices inside. If it were me, I'd stay at the Renaissance and walk over to Shops at Legacy for anything that catches your eyes.

Good to know. I was looking at a map and couldn't tell... Is there an elevated walkway, or crosswalks?

The frontage road on either side of DNT is elevated, so you can use the sidewalk to cross.

Either are fine. If you don’t have your heart set on staying at Legacy and the Tollway, the Westin golf resort just up the road at Legacy and 121 is money. There’s also a new Hyatt Regency connected to Stonebriar Mall. Omni has a brand new property at The Star a couple exits up.
