Long weekend trip from Lake Charles: clear water destinations

Any ideas where to go within a reasonable drive of LC for a relaxing trip on some clear water? Preferably a lake/river where we could rent a cabin.

Holly Beach is pretty nice. They've got rentals out there that are pretty cheap. Only a 45 minute drive from Lake Charles. Definitely will want to bring your own food though.

Yeah but at least Holly beach has a body of water and is only 45 minutes away. Plus it’s not crowded so he can enjoy it by himself. I’ve swam at Holly Beach before. The water isn’t very clean, but as long you don’t get any up your nose you’ll be fine. Ain’t nothing wrong with gettin’ a little dirty in the water! Awesome place to spend the weekend and bring the family to.

Gruen/New Braunfels/Guadeloupe River area should be about a 5 hour drive from Lake Charles. Rent a house on the river and watch the tubers float past.

How reasonable? Arkansas has some good options. Lake Ouachita is nice. If you want a river , the Buffalo is nice but if you're going soon it's probably very low

Lake Travis or Canyon Lake in the hill country is about a 5 hr drive. Broken Bow is 4.5

Canoe or kayak the whiskey chitto in Mittie. Call TJs canoe rentals. Clear water and awesome experience.
