Flying out of IAH this coming weekend and checking to see what are the easiest lots to park. Will have wife and kids, so looking for something convenient. Also- flying international but not checking any bags. Assuming two hours before flight will be enough time?

Thanks

Easiest option is terminal garage parking & you can prepay online for a reservation at a small discount.

LINK

There are offsite cheaper options, but terminal garages would be the easiest & most convenient.

Not sure where you are coming from. We always go up 59 to Will Clayton vs. 45 and use Fast Park and Relax. Never have to wait long for a shuttle to take you to the terminal and the drivers are super friendly and helpful. prepay online.

I use the Parking Spot (JFK, not Will Clayton.) The shuttle picks you up and drops you off at your car, and it's no exorbitantly expensive like parking at the terminal.

Two hours is cutting it close on an international flight with the construction going on at terminal D/E. They're going to start boarding about 50 minutes before departure if you're on anything bigger than a 737. No matter how old your kids are, I would err on the side of more time.

I presume you're checking in an printing tickets at home, and no checked luggage leads me to believe this is probably a trip to Mexico/Caribbean.

Used Parking Spot on Will Clayton last Thursday morning for international flight. No bags and TSA precheck. From the time we parking at Parking Spot and arrived at United Club in Terminal C was less than an hour.

If you're based out of BTR like your profile says, you are playing with fire. Depending on which day you're traveling, and when you're rolling, the drive can easily take more than 90 minutes than you are planning. It's taken me longer to get to IAH from BTR than it has taken me to get to AUS depending on the day and time. (edited to clarify it can take longer to get to Houston than to Austin depending on when you leave.)

Be a hero, book a hotel the night before near IAH, and roll into the airport an hour before the flight leaves. It's worth the $150.

That’s who we typically use and I agree with what you said. We fly out Sunday and will be using them.

IAH is a fricking mess right now, big time construction and big time traffic jams

Allow an extra 30-45 minutes for arriving

Thanks. We are driving over on Saturday to visit family and then fly out that afternoon. Will plan to get there earlier. I am thinking that we might be better off just parking extra and parking in the terminal garage to avoid some of the construction traffic

By all means, do what you like, but I disagree. I have experienced very little delays due to construction utilizing the park and ride. The shuttles are incentivized to get people in and out. They have been dealing with this for a long time.

The construction is at the airport. So parking at the airport garage is the area affected.

Drop offs aren’t an issue. Pickups can be a pain in the arse. Security without precheck can be a pain in the arse since C and E are combined. Checking bags can be a pain in the arse.

If you plan to park AT the airport for an extended trip, might as well utilize Uber and avoid the parking headache and save money. We Uber to IAH if trip is longer than 6 days…it’s cheaper

I don't know what crack you're smoking, but even at D/E, it's been at least ten minutes worse than it ever has been, just in terms of vehicles. Any bus is forced to drive though that shite from C to D/E to get get you. Not a fun experience, but I'm also not going to pay $30 a day to avoid a bus.

I guess I got lucky. Each of the last 4 times I’ve flown out this year. You say at least 10 minute delay where as I’ve noticed at most a 10 minute delay.

Since IAH started construction, I have not been delayed more than 10 minutes due to drop off traffic.

I salute you, because every single flight I've taken internationally has been farked by at least 10m. I'm the kinda guy that makes sure I get the lounge to regret being a part of Priority Pass by the time I leave. I show up early , and the next 11-17 hours of my life have little consequence. FFS, the flight from LAx to MEL sucked. Not enough alcohol to keep me under control.

We have the United club pass so we try to get there early for the free drinks/food. I absolutely hate being anxious for flights so I’m always keeping track of traffic patterns, construction. Uber pickups, etc.

That being said, I can’t remember one time that it took me longer than 30 minutes from the time I parked my car at the Parking Spot on Will Clayton to when I passed through security at IAH. Most recent was international flight last week.

Now, I never check bags and have precheck, so I can’t give an opinion on anything other than that exact scenario. .

Its gotten a lot better as of late, still a cluster. I fly every other week out of there. Always Uber and if C is backed up, get them to drop at D and walk over the bridge. Never traffic or lines at D terminal.

Either that, or have them drop you at A/B. C is where the issues are.

This big time.

Would say use Fast Park Relax because it's cheap and gets you to the terminal quick. Getting back to the car can be a hassle. Until the construction is finished, I'd park in the terminal lots personally.

Two hours could be enough, but not something I would chance. Traffic can be bad. The lines can be awful and you never know when it's going to be backed up. I'd do 3 for international. Recently we've been doing almost 2 for domestic. You just can't count on anything nowadays.

I come in from the Beltway/JFK direction and either park close in at the airport itself or if I want to be cheaper (longer trip), I do The Parking Spot on JFK. You can register and pay for it online at a cheaper price.

I think you got really lucky. I've experienced many delays in pickups and drop offs. My daughter (no pics) who was flying in and out has experienced many delays in security. She's also had issues with cancellations. Because of this, we get there really early now. It gives you time in the case of problems. Really, would you rather sit at the airport an extra hour or worry about missing a flight because you are stuck in traffic or in a line? It's a no brainer for us.

We flew through IAH this past weekend, and the roads and around every terminal are a total cluster frick.

I get off at Terminal D. Usually the first stop by the busses.

There is a small United checkin on the far west end. No kiosks though.

Security through D is usually light, especially mid day before the jumbos take off, plus with all the non Americans in the line, PreCheck is extra fast no matter what.

Then just walk some to E or C.
