Place to eat in Natchitoches

I love nachotexas, so many choices of places

I've spent many years in Natchitoches (have a family place on the river south of town). We had a group up riding in the boat this past saturday for the lights and fireworks and we docked and walked up for a bite and we ate at Mayeaux's Steak & Seafood.

Without a doubt the best restaurant in the city right now. Outstanding food. Keep in mind this it the guy who started Mamma's and Pappas, then sold it and had a 7 year non compete in Natchitoches. Well that was a bit over 7 years ago and he is back with this new restaurant.

TLDR: Mayeaux's Steak and Seafood is the best food in the city right now.

I'm somewhat forced to visit north Louisiana with my husband twice a year and was very excited to try Mayeaux's, the menu looked great and the location can't be beat but it seriously disappoints. The first problem was with the bar, I tried to avoid ordering any "fancy" drinks and decided to stick with a vodka and soda, probably the easiest drink to make. I was shocked to hear they don't have club soda, not even sparkling water or god forbid diet sprite. So I sat quietly drinking my water and vodka, yes water and vodka at a pricey steak restaurant until the food came. Then the food came, my salmon had been cooked for days. I have never tasted something so flavorless in my entire life. Really, it must have come from a frozen package, totally disgusting. They decided to bring me a side of asparagus when I asked for mixed vegetables and were unable to return the menu item. So needless to say I had to eat dinner after this dinner. Very Disappointing. Seriously, save your money, waistline and time and just avoid this little culinary black hole of a town all together.
NOTE
*My one star is not attributed to the fact that the all of the customers around me were dressed in jean shorts and horribly phrased holy t-shirts on a Friday night, perhaps they confused it for McDonalds instead of Mayeaux's.
