Portland Bachelor Party

Just found out I'm going to Portland, Oregon for one of my good buddy's bachelor party. I honestly know nothing about the city and what there is to do there. I'm not planning it but what is there to do in Portland that is bachelor party worthy? He is an outdoors guy so hiking and things like that will probably be what he wants to do. Also a big beer drinker. For some reason I am not very excited about Portland and am not excited to spend a lot of money going somewhere that I know nothing about. Change my mind please.

portland has some good breweries. downtown kinda sucks tho. bums everywhere. i enjoyed the area by the Timbers stadium, that part of the city is nice.
I like Deschutes Brewery and 10 Barrel.
But overall, I have no desire to ever go back to portland.
assuming this is oregon and not maine. Maine I would love to go

Portland is awesome. Forest Park and the Columbia River Gorge are both beautiful. Especially the River Gorge. Dog Mountain is a great hike with sweet views of Mt. Hood. You could easily spend a week exploring the River Gorge. Hood River is a cool town that would probably be fun for a bachelor party.

Seems important for context as one is quickly devolving into a shitehole

A bachelor party where you don riot gear and swing home made weapons at people like modern day gladiators sounds amazing to me.

I was thinking we may get some cheap hotels if we stay in the CHAZ

Bruh,
Portland is probably a top 5 bachelor party city. Solid outdoors, great beer scene, and fantastic strip clubs.
Buddy of mine was married in Tacoma, Washington and we went up for a week as a group and rented a house on the water. Went down to Portland for a day/ night to go to bars/ breweries and then strip clubs.
Unbelievable people watching and strip clubs were amazing. This is the travel board so i'm not going to go into details. But let's just say I've never been to Tijuana but it can't be much crazier as far as human to human activities go.
ETA: This is Oregon, if you are talking about Maine or another state discard lol. I'd still think Maine would be a good time though, good beer and seafood and different scenery.

And mushrooms are now not illegal there. That's a recipe for a hilarious bachelor party.

portland downtown is a shithole. its really just bums/drugged out lunatics. outside of portland is amazing. I did the downtown thing during the height of the riots to check it out and was a cool experience to see the lunatics in action... surreal more than anything. I went west to the coast for an afternoon then the next day went to the mount hood area which was awesome.
yall should hit up sirwinston and let him take you to a gay bar.

lots of head shops if yall smoke.
they had alot of very pretty women for anyone that is single. I was really surprised based on the green haired witches you usually see get arrested.
also the voodoo donuts are severely overrated. no need to get harassed by bums to go get donuts.
didnt do any strip clubs but a guy I met at the riots said the strip clubs are insane. I did try to go to the one that you drive thru(was a covid thing to keep the bitches working) but I couldnt find it or they had already taken it down.
I wouldnt think twice about going back, but i wouldnt take my family to hang around downtown.

Yes, especially if the strip clubs are open. Lots of good breweries and close by outdoor stuff like the waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge east of town. If a clear day, drive to the top of Larch Mtn. for views of Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Hood, and Mt. Jefferson, then from there drive down to Crown Point Vista and gorge waterfalls.

Nah not even close. That's why this choice surprised the hell out of me.

As others have said, outside of the protests and takeovers of government buildings in the last year (I believe most of this crap has calmed down), it has been a common bachelor party scene in recent years. I spent time in Oregon two years ago--three days in Portland--but spent most of my time in other parts of the state.
More breweries than any other city in the world. Yes, I said world. Portland is home to nearly 70 breweries — more than any other city on earth.
Strip clubs, strip clubs, strip clubs. (I was with my wife--didn't check these out...). With Covid, may be affected a bit here. You'll catch a different kind of disease.
And yes, lots of homeless and begging.

Someone is gonna be shocked when they don't see any protesting or Antifa gatherings.
The city is bordering on somewhat of a shithole, but with way better demographics, but if you stay away from the federal court or pioneer square you won't see anything bad besides homeless people and their trash.
As someone who knows the city well you have no reason to visit those areas on a Bachelor party trip.

If you are from the south then Portland, Oregon is a hell of a good place to go for a bachelor party. Very different, fun guys city. I can't imagine not having a good time for a weekend there if you are even remotely optimistic.
As said the brewery scene there is great and the strip club scene is probably top 5 in the country also. Given, they are mostly goth chicks so its weird but enjoyable.

No, not really.

Maybe Goth is the wrong word, and I've only been to 4 of them. But most of them were very Portland looking to say the least.
