I'm looking to a rent a cabin in the Rocky Mountains. I would prefer CO, but I'm open to any state. I'm looking for a place that is high up on the mountain. Also if the cabin isn't too far from the city or town that would be a plus. We enjoy hiking and being in the mountains.

Mueller State Park has cabins for around $170 a night and they're just outside of Colorado Springs Mueller State Park Cabins

I don't know much about the specific cabins you recommended, but I stayed in Estes Park for a few nights about 12 years ago.

Beautiful area. I'll always remember the freshness of that mountain air.

I've only stayed at their location near winter park/granby. Some of my best childhood winter memories are of that place.

Headed to Estes Park in 2 weeks. Here's the tiny cabins we're staying in. Just the wife and I. About a mile from Rocky Mountain National Park. LINK

Pretty sweet deal, Although they hit you pretty good with fees. I’m staying there for 5 nights in mid December for $3,000 total. It’s me, my wife, and 2 kids. There are more bedrooms than people but I had a lodge booked for the same price in Deer Valley and my wife and kids said the rather go to Gatlinburg because they preferred a cabin. So I found a cabin in park city.

We stayed in Pine Haven Resort Cabins a few years ago. Kind of quaint. Near the entrance.

I recognize them well. On the left side of the highway right before you get to Rocky. Yeah, those will be a great location.

Lots of recommendations for Estes and if you need proximity to Denver that's fine, though I prefer the other side of RMNP at Grand Lake. We almost bought a cabin in Estes several years ago but glad we didn't because it's gotten pretty "trampled" for our taste. We ended up buying a place in Lake City - check it out if you're really looking for seclusion. We don't rent our place but there are quite a few in the area if you look on VRBO and Airbnb.
