I have about 40,000 points to use with them, then I'll be done.
I guess I am in the minority, but I liked the open seating and boarding groups of the past. And of course the free checked bags.

I didn't like their seating policy, but I always checked in at exactly 24 hours and managed to get an aisle. In my Houston market, United usually matched the SW price and SWA was only cheaper because of the bags fly free policy. Hobby is also way across town from me. Once this goes into effect, I will probably never fly them again. I cannot see how they won't lose a decent amount of market share.

I just spent my last 50k with them and I'm done also. Not sure who we'll be using going forward yet.

Good lord, Southwest can't get our of their own way. Horrible executive leadership.
I keep hoping that Breeze will get more established routes to their current markets from MSY.

The airline that was different and unique is completely gone. Private Equity at it again. I won’t fly them again out of Houston unless they are over $100 cheaper than United. Which is pretty much never the case anyways if you are flying normal routes and times.

SMH. Such a shame. They’re imploding.

So, you’re threatening to boycott an airline to fly another airline that does the exact same thing? Very interesting…
I have no loyalty to any airlines anymore. Direct flight, fits my schedule, and cheapest price gets me in that seat for almost any domestic flight.

If you have any other options, I’m all ears bud.

SW is still half price of United, NO to PDX in July. Around $300 compared to $600 for United.

So 9 boarding groups, guessing the first will be designated for all the jet bridge jesus flyers

I've never seen them 1/2, much less 1/4 cheaper than United on any flight.
Out of Houston, they are almost dollar for dollar equal, which for most flyers and them now adding bag fees will be a deal breaker unless they are going to reduce fares to offset.

Elliott is one of the consistently dumbest activist investors in the space. Undoubtedly they will leave Southwest in disarray.
Southwest should look to bring in stronger management that can stand up to those losers.

It wasn't PE, it was buying AirTran that started the decay.
And no, bags never flew free, it was priced in. There Is No Such Thing As A Free Lunch (TINSTAAFL). SWA prices have been largely shite for over a decade in the Houston market, unless you took the first flight out/last flight back.
And you out of Houston should have been very familiar with the fact that you could get A1, and would be the 20th person on board with all of the wheelchairs and pre-boards.

Anecdotal, but as someone who had Preferred Status with them for years, I would hear everyone with status complain about this... Its the reason I switched over to United. The way they treated their best customers with the boarding process was bullshite.
I'm sitting on over 1m RR Miles that I have no clue how I will ever use.

I think I'm the only person that hated the SW boarding system.
But there really is very little reason to fly SWA these days since they are almost always more expensive.

I don't know many that enjoyed the herding process, watching the wheelchair jesus' take up 20 seats up front, or watching one person pay for A boarding and put their crap across 6 seats to save them.
It was ripe for abuse...and that's how it ended up. It was also quite an aggravation for the other 90% of customers that have decency and respect for other passengers.
But, I flew it ALOT.
Flying out of MSY, it offers the most options for directs by a good margin. When travelling with kids you don't have to pay for seat assignments because you were guaranteed boarding between A/B which allowed all 4 of us to sit together.
I've flown with seafood numerous times and could load 80 lb ice chest full of seafood/crawfish on trips to see family/friends with bags fly "free".

Convenience/Price. I don't really care who the carrier is on a sub 3 hour flight.
Spirit is about the only airlines I hesitate to book. I've flown them numerous times to various destinations and it has worked out more than not, but there are a couple routes I won't take anymore and/or the on-time rates/layover potential for problems can be too problematic if gone bad.

Wasn't a fan of it, but wasn't terrible if you had status prior to 2021ish.... Post-Covid was the onslaught of the jet bridge jesus crowd and where you'd have 10+ "pre boarders" on every flight who would hoard the first 1-4 rows.
I remember one flight I was on from PHX to HOU had near 30 pre-boarders due to them allowing +1s... and speaking of, the gate agents regularly don't limit it to just 1, they would allow their entire group to pre-board.
