First time visiting around the beginning of June for 3 nights… highly recommend!!!

The little downtown/historic village was
Great- restaurants, bars, shops, etc.set in the oldest town in America ( or something like that…). And it’s all clean. There were a few homeless people but nothing threatening.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites on the beach- a quick 5 minute ride from the historic sites. Great place- nice bar / restaurant area, patio with fire pits and live music, pool deck with activities during the day, etc. free bikes to use to ride around. Public pier right next door with poles to rent

Beach is a little different from gulf
Coast- sand not as
White and powdery, and water not as clear. We didn’t spend too much time here as we came directly from 3 nights on Pensacola beach.

beginning of June - it's a great vacation
July and August - that whole historic district with the narrow stone streets becomes a miserable steam room much worse than the French Quarter

We're thinking about taking a trip like this in October. Go the beach for 3 nights and stay with friends, then drive on to Orlando for 3 nights. Then drive up to St Augustine for a night or two to finish off the trip.

Agree with the assessment. Don't go for the beach. Stay within walking distance of everything and a good time is guaranteed.

we were there late april and had a blast. St Aug is wonderful and one of the few “vacation” spots we’ve been where I could imagine living full time.

We stayed at the beach and rode bikes into town. The beach is great, and a completely different vibe from the town so you get two experiences in the same place.

If you like live music the st Aug amphitheater is incredible

The beach is better a little south in Crescent Beach than St. Augustine. Wider, whiter sand, and less crowded. It's about a 15 minute drive into town which doesn't really bother us to do around once a day. Finding parking is probably the biggest hassle.

We read where parking would be a “nightmare”, but didn’t really experience it. Always found parking by the fort, or nearby.

You do have to pay for parking everywhere you went…I think I paid $10 to park in a lot one night for dinner.

Same, we stayed on Vilano Beach and it was a short drive over the bridge into town when we wanted.
Vilano Beach always seemed like it was 15 degrees cooler with the breeze coming off the Atlantic.
