Tennessee Residents Suggestions-Suburbs of Knoxville or Nashville

My husband and I are looking to move to Tennessee. We are both 60 and looking for a very conservative, safe area outside of the city limits of Nashville or Knoxville.
Husband works from home.
We drive up through Nashville to Indiana frequently to visit our son, daughter and law, and newborn grandson. We have also traveled to eastern Tennessee many times.
We currently live in the Madisonville/Covington, LA area and love it here, but want to be closer to our grandson.
Any recommendations, TIA

No to Clarksville. Safe and Clarksville do not go together, and the drive to Nashville if you want to go to the city is way worse than driving up 65 for 30 miles. Depends on your budget but if you want...Safe, Conservative, outside city limits, I'd go to Franklin. Place is growing too much, but if thats your criteria, you'll be hard pressed to find a bubble like Franklin.

Good advice on Franklin. You will be hard-pressed to find a better suburb anywhere in the country. However, your budget may be a factor. You would likely spend at least 750k to find an above average home. Mt. Juliet is another suburb of Nasvhille and homes are going to be 200k to 300k less than Franklin. If East TN is okay for you, check Hardin Valley/Oak Ridge near Knoxville or Ooltewah near Chattanooga. You can get a nice house for 450k and have a similar experience. Final area to consider might be White House outside of Nashville. I would go Franklin or Mt. Juliet first. Do not consider Clarksville.

Thanks so much for the recommendations. We will have to make a couple of weekend trips to the Nashville and Knoxville areas.
Which areas of Tennessee to avoid because of flooding? I am looking for a community that is scenic, safe, conservative, and close to shopping (groceries, Target, etc...).

We have some friends in Dandridge TN, a little east of Knoxville. Great access to the Smoky Mountains.

For knoxville as someone mentioned above, Hardin valley is nice, also farragut which is a nicer area on the west end of knox county. Also if you want to go a little further out, Maryville is the county to the south and lenoir city/loudon County is to the SW. Both are a little more rural and affordable than the more desirable areas of Knox but are still nice and close to shopping, downtown knox etc.

I’ve known people that have sought out to be somewhere with beautiful weather and scenery, others are looking for good school districts, proximity to work, some are looking to be around bars and restaurants, but seeking a conservative or liberal area? Now that is something I’ve never heard before. Must be a 2022 thing.
