Our family made a trip out to New Braunfels earlier this year, and we visited Gruene Hall for some live music. It was awesome! We listened to music while the kids played basketball in the courtyard with other kids. All around great family venue that had an authenticity about it.
This had me wondering if there are other similar venues in other parts of Texas. I'd like to keep a running list of places like that to visit over time. Anyone know of others?

We are blessed to live less than a mile from the Cat Spring Ag Society Hall. The society started in 1856. Every once in a while, they'll host a concert. We've seen Asleep at the Wheel and Gary P. Nunn over the last couple of years.

10 mins down the road is the Bellville Turnverein which recently got a facelift via grants. Our kids have had high school dances at both which to me is really cool. I like how they kept the benches next to the windows because you know back then, that building could get hot in the summer.

I always think of this Max Stalling song when we go to the hall!

A couple of lists above.

Luckenbach is a great place even if there is no concert. There is usually someone picking and singing.

There is nothing that feels more true Texas Hill Country than the Frio and The Dance on a hot summer night!
