Mrs. H2O and I just got back from 10 days in Germany and Switzerland. Still digging through all of the photos and working on the writeups and will add photos/links as I get them. In a departure from our laid back Italy trip, this one had another insane itinerary though only 4 cities in 2 countries.

Chalet Hotel Schönegg Zermatt
Exploring Zermatt
Zermatt to Zurich via Swiss Federal Railways

First up, we flew KLM Business Class from Austin to Amsterdam. While not the most cutting edge business class seat in the world it was still a comfortable ride with good food and a friendly crew. Only complaint was the shoulder space when trying to sleep as it was a little tight.

Damn. Need someone to carry your luggage around? Lol

Spending 100+ nights on the road each year means I have become a pro at packing everything in a carry on. Mrs. H2O on the other hand....

KLM Crown Lounge 25 Amsterdam (AMS)
After arriving from Austin, we had a roughly 2 hour layover in Amsterdam before our connecting flight to Frankfurt so we headed to the lounge. The Crown Lounge 25 is the smaller of the 2 KLM lounges in Amsterdam and serves the Schengen gates. Overall the lounge was fine but the glass walls make you feel like you're inside of a fish tank with people looking in at you.

I would normally say that about my wife, but she did 3 weeks in Italy and France with a carry on. I was impressed. Now when we go somewhere in the future, I'm not going to play alone with that. She proved to me she could do it without every luggage known to us.

She was fully prepared to go with just a (massive) carry on for this trip but I told her she could check a bag if she wanted since we were going for a wedding and vacation with multiple climates. Our first trip together she did 9 days in Germany and Austria in December with just a carry on so I know it's possible.
She did start saying this trip "I'll just buy whatever I need while I'm there"

KLM Cityhopper E190 EuroBiz (AMS-FRA)
After our layover in Amsterdam we had a short flight down to Frankfurt on KLM Cityhopper, their regional subsidiary, on the E190. WHile European Business Class is not great, Business Class on the E190 is worse as there are no middle seats to block. We also encountered some weather delays and got remote stands at both ends of the trip. Though they did serve a full meal on a 38 minute flight. You're lucky to get a beverage refill on a US carrier in that time.
Full write-up is in the link above.

Park Hotel & Spa KATHARINA Badenweiler, Germany
For the first stop on our trip we were in Badenweiler, Germany on the edge of the Black Forest for the wedding of some of our friends. Their wedding website suggested the Park Hotel & Spa KATHARINA and we booked our one bedroom suite directly via the hotel website. I usually stay at Marriott properties and went into this stay with zero expectations. The room was nice, though a little dated, and the hotel and location worked perfectly for us.

Exploring Badenweiler
Our first stop on this trip was the Black Forest resort town of Badenweiler. We were only here for a couple of days which were mainly comprised of wedding festivities but we still had time to do a little sightseeing.

Badenweiler to Montreux via Swiss Federal Railways
Getting from Badenweiler to Montreux took longer than expected due to delays and a feud between Deutsche Bahn and Swiss Federal Railways which made for some extra connections. All in all we took 5 different trains over 4 hours to get between the two cities.

Our first stop in Switzerland was in the riviera town of Montreux, located on the opposite end of Lake Geneva from the city of Geneva. For our 3 day stay here we booked at the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic, a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel in the heart of the city.
The hotel and staff were extremely nice and welcoming and the view from our room couldn't be beaten. Full writeup at the link below.

Exploring Montreux
We arrived in Montreux mid-afternoon and after checking in to the hotel we headed out to explore the city. The scenery around the area is amazing with the massive French/Swiss Alps and Lake Geneva as the backdrop. We spent a couple of days here and easily could have spent more.

This is one of the best pictures I've seen posted on this site. You take all of these on your phone or do you have a camera?

I snapped this walking down the lakefront with my iPhone. No fancy cameras here
