TSA precheck application

Do they keep your certified birth certificate when you apply (in person appt.) or just make a copy? Wondering if I need two certified copies

My initial enrollment was so long ago it may not be useful to you, but I'm 99.99% sure you keep it. I wouldn't pay for a spare; as an adult, when was the last time you pulled it out?
To buttress my argument, a passport is allowed to be used, and they sure as hell can't keep the original.

Same here. Been a while, but I don’t recall them keeping any docs. Seems like they reviewed, maybe scanned them, and took a fingerprint with an electronic reader.

I just did it for my 18 year old son. They definitely don’t keep the original.

It varies mine took 5 weeks , daughter who was with me 6-7 days.

I just did this a couple months ago and used my passport, they just made a copy.
