I saw that this AM, makes not signing up for the card a no brainer.

Annual fees should be capped at $100, if not outlawed altogether.

Why? Have you been forced to pay an annual fee on a credit card? Are there no other options because of a monopoly?

quote:lol what. Pretty much any credit card with an annual fee can be recouped fairly easily with a little work. I've never had an issue doing so

You just have to do an analysis of the fee and benefits to make sure the card works for you. Obviously you wouldn't get this if you don't fly United regularly

I'll still keep the Club card. Only difference, at least for me, is the new annual fee. Travel so much work from ORD -> LAX, SFO, LGA that I need continued lounge access + achieving Gold has always been damn easy with my job. I usually fall in Platinum.

The card changes are perfect for people like you, especially if you only/mostly fly united. For the more casual traveler, not as much.

I fly United a few times a year, and I likely won't use any of the new "benefits", so I'm trying to figure out whether I'm willing to pay $150/yr for two lounge passes and a slightly higher status.

Same here. I’m canceling. Really a CSR, Citi, and Amex guy. Transfer partners galore and even if flying united likely going through Houston and heading to Amex Centurion.

The only reason I might stay using this card is that I frequently find the American Express centurion lounges to be overcrowded, the last few times we have been for the one in Houston. There were about 20 people waiting in line, they had a one in one out policy like a fricking nightclub it was ridiculous

It’s often at capacity. Next time, via the app, check in about 20 minutes before arrival to the lounge. Annoying though.

The "benefits" all suck. But, I'll continue to pay the fee since I use the United Club with my family probably 20 times a year.
