There really are only a few options for me-
My favorite is going to the Marriott Grand resort in Point Clear, AL. The resort is very nice and has a lot to do and Fairhope is close by, which is a neat little town.

If you like the casino thing, pick one in Biloxi.

Natchez to stay in a plantation home. Tour other homes and the town.

Go stay in Orange Beach or Pensacoula.

Sports books in MS are opening soon which would make the MS gulf coast slightly interesting. You could make a trip to ocean springs to limit exposure to riff-raff.

Is this a trip with SO, family, friends?

Our normal trip is to the gulf coast beaches. Trying to mix it up a bit. A cool city that flies under the radar, cabin in the woods, cabins on a lake, etc.

Coater: trip with the wife.

Thanks.

ETA: I was joking about Houston. I've been to Houston countless times and it's fine, just looking for something else.

excellent topic and I’m always looking for cool places to go for a weekend.
it does kind of suck that there isn’t much interesting geography close by that’s different from what we see everyday

we’ve been looking at state parks and such in MS, hopefully someone will post some ideas.

I'll throw a suggestion out there. Rent kayaks in Grand Isle or Leeville. Fishing out of the kayak is fun AF but not necessary to have fun.

ETA: And bowfishing in Leeville with Marsh Masters. Request the airboat. Two birds with one stone. Shoot fish with bows and arrows and get to ride in an airboat.

I know. Wasn't meant for you. I see on the OB. Just throwing out some suggestions to try get some discussion started.

I think Tunica Hills has a little waterfall.

Come to Lafayette. If you time it right with traffic, it may take you 4 hours to get here.

ETA: If its just you and the wife, check the flights out of BR. Sometimes you can snag a connection flight to ATL or Dallas, etc. for really cheap. If you dont mind driving to MSY, it can get really interesting.

Yep. A bed and breakfast in either place would be nice.
Fairhope is such a cool neat little town that a lot of people don’t know about

Move to NC, SC, Northern GA or TN. The options are limitless.

Ship Island Gulfport, Miss. We took our grandkids and had a great time. It’s about a 45 minute ride out. 2 adults and 2 children plus we rented an umbrella with two chairs was $135 total. There is a hamburger stand on the island and the water was really clear
