Who here thinks Las Vegas sucks?

Just got back from there last night. It was the second time going, last time was 15+ years ago. It has changed a ton in just that short time.
Everything WAY over priced, everyone with a hand out wanting a tip, and just everything so fake, it’s crazy.
My favorite part was checking out the old shut down motels near Fremont St (which sucked by the way, drunks and street performers).
Maybe it’s just me, I’m getting too old.

Judging by your posts all over this site, it is

Nah, old school operators and mob influence are waning, it's just a corporate shite show now. It doesn't suck, but it's not what it used to be

I’ve been to Vegas at least once a year since ‘06. My last trip was 2018. It’s a tourist trap no and people are getting nickel and dimed to death. Resort fee, parking fee, Black jack 6:5 odds, craps odds are laughable, over priced food, tight comps. Don’t even bring up car rental and the fees associated with it.
I can’t imagine if I was into clubbing.

I have never been, but I will go in a heartbeat. I have done plenty of research and I am very aware of everything you’re talking about. Did you not do any research? It sounds like he just showed up and everything you experienced was something that you had not read about

Accurate. It was much better when the mob ran things. Better customer service and you did not have the crime around the casinos. It has been a long time but I still think criminals would not mess with the mob. Howard Hughes brought in the corporations and Californians moved in. I guess I should not complain about Hughes as I probably would not exist if it wasn't for him.

It is a must once, but like already said, its too corporate now. Its like Disney World with drunks, beggers, overpriced everything, even the shitty meals will run you $20 a person.
If I was still 30 with the spending money I have now, it maybe a blast.
It was $125 for me, my wife, and two daughters to go to top of the Stratosphere and they rode two rides each. $65 for my wife and daughters to ride the High Roller (and that was with my Caesars Platinum discount).
When I was there 15 years ago, some of the old casinos on the strip were still there, with the old Vegas feel. Now they are all gone and even the old section has been taken over by the corporate world (Fremont St).

I think it's an ugly, depressing city. I would never want to live there. However, it can absolutely be a good time for a few days with some buddies.

I always leave Vegas disappointed in my trip but I always go back. It’s weird
And I don’t gamble so it’s not because I lost a bunch of money.

Ive been for work a few times and am glad I had the experience.. however its nothing I'd ever spend my own money on... that said, I don't gamble and the entertainment/nightlife is not my cup of tea...

Been one time, hated it. Hope to never go back. It's like Disney for adults, and I mean that in every negative sense of the term.
And I'm in my early 30s, so it's not a getting old thing. It's just a tourist trap in the middle of the desert where everything costs 8 times more than it should.

I'm out there for work some and I can't stand it. It's the most depressing place I've been, and I've been to some shite holes around this world.

Went once in the late 90's and wasn't all that impressed. Never had any desire to go back.

How many of you did other things besides stay on the Strip?
Posted on 7/16/19 at 10:36 am to jmarto1
Checked out breweries, spent two days at CES, played golf. The strip is definitely the worst of it, but there was nothing at all there that I found redeeming (the golf was nice, actually, but that can be found almost anywhere)
If someone enjoys Vegas, I'm not knocking them. It's just definitely not for me.

Going there and expecting different was your first mistake.

I don't care for it. If I want to gamble, I go to Laughlin, NV. Free flights and rooms at the Harrah's. It's right on the Colorado River which is a lot of fun.
Cheap food, good service on drinks and good dealers. It's what Vegas used to be.

I lived there as a teenager. It wasn't really that bad, but it did kill my desire to go there with friends. I just can't see Vegas like a tourist.

Same here.
The best part of our Vegas trip was the Grand Canyon. Hated everything else.
