My copy should be arriving today, but that's disappointing to hear. Don't remember him being especially woke in his past books. I'm still gonna read it, but I'll probably stop buying them and start getting them through Libby instead.

Big Erik Larson fan. The January 6 comparison is laughable and set a bad tone. I’m still optimistic on it though. The first few chapters have been good.

I like his books a lot, but he is a “popular” historian. He takes others’ writing and research, spins it with a nice turn of phrase, and makes the later narrative more interesting. Looks like he’s “spinning “ this one ab initio.

The intent of the mob was to prevent the certification of election results and to keep Trump in the White House. That seems pretty “insurrectionist” to me.
