Possibly planning a trip for later next year, heard it’s smart to rent a boat for the duration of trip. Any knowledge of that or certain places to stay?

Don’t know the number of people yet, could be a large group of might end up being only the wife and I.

Some may disagree, but the best way to see the BVIs (if you have boating experience) is to charter a boat and sail from island to island. If you don’t have boating experience can have a similar experience if you charter a boat with a captain.

Jost is a cool island. Is it cooler than any of the others? Probably not. But it’s a great island. Foxy’s gets the press but Soggy Dollar Bar is one of my favorite bars in the world.

Definitely charter if you can. Doesn't get any better than mooring off a beach not accessible by car.

We had a captain but some of our crew were fully capable of sailing so they did and the captain served more as first mate & tour director. He knew the bartenders at every place we went. It's always good to have that guy with you. At some of the bars we just poured our own and kept a running tab, paid up when we left for the next stop.

Cow Wreck Beach Bar was fun, too.

It depends what you want out of your trip. You can get a room on the island pretty cheap ($150-250 a night) if you didn’t want to stay on a boat. We stay on island and take a boat out for day trips part of our stay. Charters are getting expensive with gas prices going up though. I’d rather stay on island and walk to Soggy Dollar and the surrounding bars and know I can just walk back to my room at night.

Sitting here now and people are complaining about prices going up. Probably going to affect the price of everything here soon.
