He said he was blacked out and woke up when Jackson was rifling through his pockets and Jackson cut his hand with the knife in the process.

How did Ward know Jackson had a knife if he didn't at least brandish it?
You don’t think it was listed in a police report or hospital record?

Did Jason Williams being under indictment have any effect on you? Hurt his credibility in your view?

But that backs up his story.

I'm asking that if the knife was never removed from the victim's pocket and used to cut or at least threaten Ward, how did ward know the guy had a knife on him?

Gonna be honest and say I can't answer that from that headshot.

Going to say he doesn't look like a picture of health, but definitely not frail.

Was the Chewbacca defense employed?

Not really, he sounds guilty as hell. It sounds like 50/50 and he would still be convicted of manslaughter. Race place into the sentencing. No doubt.

I dont know, because I don't know the timing of when certain claims were made. This juror would.

Ward put up a pretty unbelievable defense about being cut by a pocket knife while Jackson was robbing him but the knife was in Jackson pocket when the cops found him and ward never said anything about being robbed when the cops found him in the parking garage.

Can you explain what is “unbelievable” about it?

-being blackout makes someone pretty vulnerable for being taken advantage of
-homeless dudes are known pick pockets
-the homeless dude had a knife (was it tested for blood by the cops? how was this not basic evidence?)
-if he was blackout drunk how long after was his interview with police in parking garage? I’d imagine it would be tough to be coherent at that point as he’d still be pretty intoxicated or hungover and sobering up

I’m just not seeing how it’s “unbelievable”…it’s at least plausible from outside looking in

if there was no security camera footage, you were just taking everyone’s word and going with instinct in who was lying and who was telling the truth between Ward and witnesses? Or are you not telling us about evidence?

He talked to them when they found him in the parking garage but basically just said he was being complaint. We didn’t get to really see any conversations between them post that. The last thing was ward asking the cop to let him go while headed to opp and the cop saying yo have no idea how serious this is.

Fair enough. I assume the victims belongings were inventoried by le or the hospital, but it would be interesting to know if that evidence was presented.

ETA: of course this dude is a troll and wasn’t actually a juror, so who knows

How did he end up in the parking garage? Just passed out from being drunk or someone called the cops and he was running away trying to hide?

I have no idea. I was pretty neutral through the jury selection process so that’s probably why. To be honest it only took like two hours to pick the jury.

Defense made a point to note that the cops had indicated that Jackson had a knife when they found him on the ground and the hospital report said he had a pocket knife among his other personal effects.
