Yep. I had a sebaceous cyst on the back of my neck that slowly grew for years. Had it removed in January. Feels good having it gone. I had to be careful with the incision cite afterward because it was right in the location of where a collared shirt would rub it. So I kept a big bandaid on it when I went to work.

Did you have it removed at rapides regional? I was a scrub tech there in 08.

Pilonidal. But, yes... they are very common.

I had one on my shoulder blade. It took some time but I eventually drained it all myself.

Basically for a while I would get some of the stinky white stuff out but it would always come back. I finally worked on it for hours and was able to get everything out and it hasn’t come back.

Mine had no feeling at all. Just felt like a numb lump, even when squeezing thst nastiness out.

Guess I got lucky.

Yeah, I had one come up at the precise point on my head I used to crush beer cans longways on. It stunk like a skunk when the hot doctor lady cut into it. She was all into it and showed me the cyst bag and everything. I missed my chance on a keeper.

I didn’t even know they do that for this type of procedure. The pain from the pressure was something I won’t forget.

Same here. I had no idea WTF was going on. I beebopped down there and showed up for this. I'm still not sure how I drove home. No way I'd do that again without FULL sedation. Wouldn't wish that level of pain on anyone.

Yes, when I was a kid, a grain of road pebble after a crash. As an adult, no. Go to the doc and get a blood test. May be something to attend to.

No, LaSalle. But the surgeon worked at Rapides as well.

Had one on the back of my scalp that I drained myself with a razor blade and a mirror in high school. 20 or so years later and it scabs over from time to time still, but hasn't grown back.

I had one removed from my main thumb a few months back. It was located just at the knuckle on the interior side. I am sure there is a much better medical induced location than what I have typed.

It got to the point to where even holding a pen writing something was getting painful. They put me under, removed it, sowed me up, and kicked me out of the hospital with a bag full of pain meds all within an hour and a half.

They say back in olden times, a couple peasants would hold you down, and the preacher would smash that cyst with a Bible. Serious shite here. I guess the remains would just scatter about, probably not causing even further problems.

What causes these things? I dated a girl who got them fairly regularly. Always assumed it was bc she was kinda dirty (in more ways than one ha) but never knew what actually caused em.

These are awful. I had one and ignored it till it got infected, had body chills and everything. Dr wanted to lance and drain it, but we gave it an extra day and it finally burst on its own. I only use a stand up desk now for work. Not sitting all day seems to have made a difference, been about 2 years and it hasn’t came back.

Little bump here (no pun intended). I have a Pilonidal cyst currently. This is the first time I recall having it but I don’t know if I’ve had it get infected before and it just didnt get infected enough to feel it. Not this time.

Starting over the weekend it felt like I had bruised my tailbone. Some soreness when I sat down. Over the last couple days it has gotten to the point it hurts and feels like my skin is about to tear apart when I bend at the hips.

I’ve been soaking multiple times per day in a hot bath and a sitz bath. But getting the thing submerged correctly in a sitz bath is a pain in the arse. Hot water and epsom salts provide some temporary relief but I can’t say it is helping omit to go away.

You guys who have gone to the doctor and had it drained- how long did you wait before going to see someone? Did you go to urgent care? Your PCP? If it isn’t better tomorrow im going to have to see someone. But I’m scared shitless of the surgery recovery although mine doesn’t seem like it’s quite as big as some people report with the terrible surgery/recovery stories.

Anyway- any advice?

Recovery for mine wasn't bad at all, but I was like 19 years old. I waited about 2 days after it started feeling like I broke my tailbone. Tried to pop it myself and couldn't.

I had mine done at a hospital as an outpatient proceedure. Hurt like all hell but the relief afterwards was totally worth it.
