My parents will bring us some of their "Take and Bake" pizzas when they come to visit. One time they did and we cooked them while they were here. My dad, who should know better, proceeded to cut the pizza into triangles. My kids still refer to that time that "granddad ruined their Johnny's pizza".

No mention of Aron’s Pharmacy and the grill in the back

I mentioned it like 3 pages ago. The Aron’s just sold it to the guy that owns Cottons apparently.

I miss the Christmas cards out in front of OPHS on Kansas Lane and of course Christmas Card Lane. It's hard to imagine how magical those things seemed in the early 70s

its really a unique taste and whether or not its the 'best', it certainly qualifies as a unique flavor

I honestly think you have to be from the 318 to really love Johnny's. Like it is in your DNA. For example, I live in Kingwood, TX (a burb of Houston) and there was a Johnny's here a few years back. Owner was from Monroe and worked at the one across from NLU back in the day and got the rights to open a franchise. I was in heaven. Tasted just like one would taste from Mecca. I think I ate one every week. Went from sub 10% bf to a full blown whale but that is another story. However, it went belly up. People just didn't take to it no matter how hard the guy tried to pimp it.

Scott back in the day is probably one of the craziest MFR’s I’ve ever known, and there were some crazy MFR’s in T&C

Clyde posted up in his recliner just watching everyone eat.

That TCBY got sold about a week after I started working there. I vaguely remember a tall guy coming in sometimes. Seems like he was the main owner’s brother. I thought a group of investors bought it. Maybe your uncle was the seller.
yep he was. Technically both my uncle's owned it together but one just invested in it and the other one ran it.

I know Gambino and knew Charlie Brown too.
Dark times in Monroe-
Lea Joyner murder shook the community. Spicer murder. Serial killers Henry Lucas and Ottis Toole taking credit/blamed for the murdered coeds. FM102 DJ Mark Woolly murdered in Shreveport. Frank Selas suddenly vanishing after Mr Wonder summer camp, reappearing decades later on the west coast.

Great concerts to Monroe-
Grand Funk, Elvis, Skynyrd, Three Dog Night, Ted Nugent at the Civic Center. Black Oak Arkansas.
NLU had some great bands at Spring Fever. Saw Harry Chaplin right before he died in a car accident.
