<--- Arkansas 1998 3rd place State meat judging.

Lower levels like district were just ID'ing cuts of meat. State got serious with the white coats, hair nets and judging 4 half steers cut on the 13th rib to see the ribeye. Then 4 half hogs and a crazy amount of beef and pork cut id.

I was always a bit envious of my younger brother, I enjoyed it more than he did but he always seemed to end up with the better quality of our show animals. He'd won the steer show at the State Fair a few times, LSU pig show once with plenty of class and division winners to boot. I'd never had that kind of success so I was jealous.

Also a former member. Showed pigs in high school. We looked forward to regional and state livestock shows all year. To this day I can’t believe our parents turned us loose on our own in RVs at the show barns for days at a time.

I was 94-95.

I think our districts were at Lyon college in Batesville but feel we went to Searcy one year as well.

I raised a pig in my back yard and showed him at the state fair in 92. Didn’t win anything but was eye opening at the level of pampering those show pigs got.

I took every shop class I could get on my schedule. Learned to gas, arc, and mig weld. Learned how to wire up a light switch. Small engine repair, woodworking, do a bench loop using a level and rod, worked on the green house team. I loved FFA.

I took AP biology, chemistry, trig/Calc classes and even home-ec where I learned how to sew.

Our school had a “school rodeo” where every student K-12 attended. The students competed in bull riding, saddle bronc, bareback, steer wrestling and all kinds of other crazy stuff. Man the 80’s and 90’s were awesome.

to the FFA.

It’s kinda funny. I grew up on a row crop farm with about 50-60 pairs.

Took one year of ag in high school then no more.

Needed to get done early so I could leave for work.

It’s a related, but for over 20 years now I’ve done something other than farm. Still thankful for them.

Memorized the creed in one day in Ag class. We had an assignment to say the creed paragraph by paragraph bybthe end of the semester. I did it in one day and they asked me to join.

I did and won area Creed speaking. Went to state and bombed the questions but went on to be an area officer

Yup...
1x state champ farm business management
Bronze finalist national farm business management
2x state runner up meat identification
Chapter secretary and treasurer
Area 4 reporter

Wished I would have started earlier than my junior year. I couldn't run for state office because I started to late.

Only FFA connection I have from high school was a cute country girl who looked great in Wranglers. I finally got those jeans off and all she would let me do was rub the outside of her pussy lips.

So after that I didn’t spend much time bothering with FFA folks.
