There is also a large percent who are obsessed with “healing” because they’ve convinced themselves and every other woman around them that adversity and anything else negative that occurs to the rest of us on a daily basis is trauma.
Females use victimhood as a weapon. They find it gets them attention and wins battles.
Where men are conditioned to overcome, women are conditioned to use their problems to get affirmation and attention.

So there's no other components or factors?

Why? What if you like them?
Everyone likes drugs, but anti depressants aren't the kind I like to take.
The over prescribing of drugs fits well with the current social theme that blames society for all of our problems and excuses individual choice.

I understand why bored dudes get into trouble. We're wired for thrill and risk, not the corporate drones we've become.
Our instincts push us harder than our society allows today, so we have to cope with other sources of risk.

almost every lesbian couple I work with (especially those on the west coast) is overweight, diabetic, and on antidepressants AND anxiety meds.
Seriously, have you ever come across a lesbian couple in which both are at least semi-attractive?

SSRIs are a common non-hormonal treatment in menopause, specifically for hot flashes and flushing. And given the risks with hormonal treatment (like increases in potential breast cancer) I can see why women would rather take an SSRI. There is also a definitely hormonal/mood component to menopause. 45 is right about that age of onset so that statistically makes sense.
ok, what about the racial component
It's like the second poster said. % is a better metric because the absolut number of whites in the US are much higher than others. If you are to assume that the women:Men ratio is ~1:1, then what you can see is consistency in that about 2x women to men regardless of race. So then the question becomes, are there factors besides anxiety and depression to account for the increase in women. Is there a biological difference, and of course, menopause and monthly estrogen/progesterone cycles is an obvious answer. Men don't have menopause(no pun intended) and men don't have PMDD (Pre-menstral dysmorphic disorder), both of which are common reasons for SSRIs.
Taken together, this graphic, while technically accurate based on absolute numbers, is creating a false inference that peri- or post- menopausal white women are more likely than other groups to have anxiety or depression and therefore need to be treated with SSRIs. Correlation does not mean causation.

Unless you think they've increased similarly population wise
That’s the comparison that could tell a different story. 9 million out of 80 million vs 2 million out of 12 million. It should stay gender specific as well as expectations for men an women are different.
