My Wife, 12 year old and myself are driving in to Atlanta on June 28th to see The Cure at State Farm Arena. We only plan to stay the night before the show and the night of and then drive back the next day. Looking for suggestions on where to stay that is an easy drive in and out, as we prefer to drive in from the surrounding area if possible. Trying to avoid staying downtown if possible for a few reasons but am open to suggestions if that does not make sense to anyone more familiar with Atlanta than I obviously am. We will only have one real day in the city because of the show so not looking to pack that day full of places to see. Mainly looking for recs on places or areas to stay. With that said, any suggestions are welcome.

I know you said that you would prefer to stay not downtown, but honestly for this situation it may be your best bet. Traffic in this town is never predictable, so you're risking a long commute into town on a Wednesday trying to make it to the show. Also, parking costs can be a bit exorbitant (the CNN deck was charging $70/car for Taylor Swift).

There is an Omni hotel in the CNN complex. It may be expensive, but you literally go downstairs to the food court/atrium and walk into State Farm. There are other hotels in the general vicinity, but my guess one of the reasons you don't want to stay downtown is the culture in the surrounding area. Omni keeps you from having to walk back after the show is over.

If you stay there you are also within walking distance of the College Football Hall of Fame, World of Coca-Cola, and Georgia Aquarium. You could spend the morning doing one, the afternoon doing another (or stay in the aquarium from late morning through afternoon) and then go to the show.

Just stay in the city. im assuming state farm arena is the hawks stadium, if so, you will be fine. really it was just turner field that was in more of a ghetto area.
