But it seems as though the paper is shitting on Nuss. Why else would they question his accuracy compared to JD?

Not really. I've read other articles that said the same thing, but the context was that Nuss took deeper shots. JD also had some drops by receivers.

It's not an indictment on Nuss. Just an observation.

Would you stop it with all the Nuss talk? JD is a preseason Heisman contender.

This time next season Nuss will be the starter and tRant will be talking about Hurley.

Once the season starts it will be all about the starter.

UNTIL THE FIRST INCOMPLETION.

Here we go again, why do OUR fans and I use OUR Fans lightly- continue to pit OUR QBs against each other tearing down their weaknesses ad nauseam. It is unbelievable to me that EVERY program in the country would kill to be in CBKs shoes as it relates to LSUs QB room. We have 2 great QBs, each will have their bad plays , but the good will quadruple this. Nuss has a Great arm but JD5 has Great mobility and has the experience and knowledge of the offense. He will go vertical this year. Nuss has the next year and the next- he’s not going pro next year unless we win it all and he’s at the Heisman ceremony. I hope he is that only means one thing WE WIN!
The pitting of OUR QBs is so petty WE have what some call the Best 1-2 punch QB room in the country based on Facts. Be happy, Be excited, Be ecstatic, but please don’t be so gd pessimistic about what everyone except a few negative miserable “fans” that can’t get thru the day happy unless it’s at the expense of other people’s faults.
Hey we could be arguing over Harris/Jennings and then we would all be miserable regardless. I remember Jennings coming in against Arkansas and running for a 1st down and going 2/2 with a TD and a Win. I told people well at least we got OUR QB for next year. Don’t fool yourself based off a couple good plays- CBK and Staff know what we got even if we think we know .

I was as shocked to read this as most of you were. Was this dictated from Coach Kelly at some point to reporters because none of us have seen JD being more accurate than Nuss. Where did The Advocate reporter get this info?

Lazy Reporter. He probably lets the "Rant" supply his information.

I don’t take any opinions from that newspaper as gospel. Nuss had a better completion percentage if the stats I saw are accurate. JD had dropped balls and the writer has no idea what each QB was trying to work on. Were they going against one’s? That’s statement means nothing.

Nuss will be the starter by halftime in Florida state game.

Your classic and typical LSU fan expert “the backup QB is the best player on the team” analogy. JD is what, 4th or 5th in Heisman odds this year…BUT he’ll be benched by halftime of the opening game.

Liberals do what Liberals do, they have to bring Emotion/Drama into every thought. Obviously their favorite is JD5 not for the play of QB, but to push an agenda of WHAT they think the real reason is. You know exactly what I mean every single person knows. I love JD5 as LSUs QB because of his play, but would not hesitate to put in Nuss if JD5 flounders regardless of any Liberals notion. For one reason ONLY to Fkn WIN!!!

Stop throwing politics into this just look at the facts. JD5 has more game experience this will be his 5th yr starting, versatile, protects the ball, and On Heisman contender list. If you think they benching JD5 for Nuss I don't know what to tell you. Nuss knows his place on the team and staff was straight forward with both players.

Y’all are reading way too much into this.

To answer your question though, it should be obvious that the media was present at the scrimmage and saw it play out in person.

Daniels was 7/13 with 62 yards but that apparently included three drops by Brian Thomas. Nussmeier was 5/8 with 107 yards but that included a 75 yard screen pass and a short pass to Jalen Brown that went for 21 yards after a broken tackle.

Maybe Nussmeier simply missed on some downfield throws during the scrimmage, and Wilson Alexander / Scott Rabalais are simply reporting what they saw? Is it that hard to believe that Nussmeier had some misses among his 8 total scrimmage passing reps? Do y’all really think Brian Kelly is telling the media what to say about his quarterbacks? Come on.

Regardless it’s a pretty silly thing to try to turn into manufactured controversy. Rabalais’ point was that Daniels has the QB1 spot locked down but that Nussmeier still made some throws. I don’t know how that could possibly be a shock to anyone who has paid any attention to this team over the offseason. In fact, he even pointed this out in the first sentence of the article:
quote:

We didn’t go in Saturday expecting any major changes or revelations on offense and that’s exactly the way it turned out.

This should be obvious. But it was more than just the scrimmage—they watched an hour and half of practice before the scrimmage. They saw a lot more passed than the few that were thrown in the scrimmage.

By no means do I want to Bench Daniels, that’s my point, either I wrote this wrong or you read it other than the way it was meant. I was trying to point out the reason why a Liberal journalist which is everyone at the Advocate is 95%. I love JD5 and I believe he is #1 not 1a. They have an agenda in everything printed. Let’s be CLEAR about that JD5 is my guy period.

This is very true!

But this fat white boy from The Advocate who was constantly grabbing for a popsicle on the LSU sidelines, posted in Sunday's edition, that Nuss "didn't show the accuracy Daniels possesses" implying that this has always been the case. And that's a total fabrication!
