Why?? Its settled, done. Gone to the states. Why do they need to carry on about it? Don't kill the messenger, but if they battle it out w each other over who's more pro-life it will turn off some independents.
I'm pro-life myself but there are just so many women who won't stand for a politician deciding what they can/cant do. It is what it is.

They shouldn't talk about abortion at all in this debate if they're serious about winning elections

This would be colossally stupid.

What station?
Abortion shouldn’t be talked about at all unless the useless Fox person does it.

I can think of many talking points for tonight and abortion at this moment (tonight) is not one of them.

I don’t believe that.
I’m not saying I don’t believe you saw it stated on a banner; I just don’t believe that will be the focus.
There’re far too many other critical issues to discuss (Biden, inflation, illegal immigration, crime, childhood indoctrination in public schools, the weaponization of government, etc,)

Governors need to flex about the one thing they control, states rights. Somehow it’s trumps fault when that’s not his job.

Seems intentional to me. It’s how they torpedoed the midterm elections. Why stop now?

Sounds like something made up by democrat TV producers.

Why??
They’ll cherry pick some Trump video and paint him in the most intolerant light.
Who cares what the others think?

It may make sense for the GOP to shift off of the same ole arguments that aren't appealing to literally murderously selfish women who think they have a right to murder another person just because it's attached to their own body due to their own choice.
I posit the GOP should shift to a population control argument. They won't do it b/c they also like population control, I expect. But that's at least a new angle.

Exactly what the donors want. They want us fighting over social issues distracted from DC grift on major issues.
For example, remember when Lindsay Graham said he wanted a federal ban abortion just before the midterms? Yeah, that was a gift to the Democrats and he knew it. The last thing these entrenched GOP politicians what is to win too much. They want to win just enough to stay in office and continue to allow the Democrats to run things and they can enjoy the DC grift with plausible deniability.

Republicans need to avoid the abortion issue like the plague. If asked just say the Supreme Court has ruled it is a states rights issue and move on. There are tons of issues far more important than abortion. It's not a hill worth dieing on.

Well that's what happens when Iowa is the first primary.

I wonder which candidate people will most “blame” for Roe v Wade being overturned.

Because they have to make a big issue out of a very controversial and divisive subject that should be a non-issue, to ensure that they set themselves up for monumental losses. They're not paid to represent their constituency and they couldn't care less about the people they represent. They're paid to do a job, and that job is to continue losing.
The GOPe and the DNC are combined to form the Establishment Uniparty. The DNC is the Etatist "action" wing, and the GOPe is the controlled opposition wing.
The two-party system became a single party at some point. Maybe it always has been, and some of us are just realizing it now. Personally, I think it began with the JFK assassination.

The candidates probably won't make it "front and center" on their own volition. However, the useless media handling the debates will force them to. Which begs the question: are debates even necessary in 2024?
Prior to the advent of cable TV, 24 hour new stations, the internet, and social media, a debate or two on network television might be the only time many Americans got to see a candidate speak, and getting information on the candidates was largely limited to reading newspapers/magazines, and campaign ads.
Today, just about every adult American can research every minute detail of any candidate, and almost literally hear them speak every single day.
Given that, as well as how unabashedly leftist the media has fully embraced, what is the benefit of any GOP candidate participating in a debate? It's simply just an opportunity for leftist media moderators to ask "gotcha" question and set up negative soundbites.
I don't think ANY GOP candidate benefits in any manner from a televised debate today.
